Finish a new model/mesh? Got something you're working on? Finish a new map? Here's the place to post it for feedback and whatnot.

Plane modelling is the best way to go, and although can give more errors, you can easily see and fix them. I started out box modelling.. never, never again.

Yes, we know, what I'm saying is people have a tendency to assume a plane-modelled piece of crap is still better than, say, a gun that's been spline-modelled and is like, 99% accurate to the real thing.

Anyways... the forend needs fixing. The sights need fixing. The stock needs fixing. It needs so much detail added to the receiver it's not funny. Edges that should be smoother are sharp as hell and the ones that shouldn't be curved, like the magazine, are curved. I appreciate you tried to get it right... but to be brutally honest I could do something twice as detailed and accurate in an hour, and probably with a lower polycount too.

Don't try to finish models quickly, instead focus on getting them just right before you even think about calling it done. (I know this is a WIP, just a tip for future reference.)

rossumm, I in no way stated plane modelling is more accurate, gives better results, or is the way everyone goes.

I agree that you can get better results with different techniques, and im not against that, however im saying its easier to adapt to, that MOST users will find gives THEM an easier time modelling. Thats not to say everyone can model perfect using this technique, but I can see you only see your viewpoint, and im going to leave it at that..

I know you didn't - a lot of other people do, though, and it annoys me.

He means, if you want to make a decent gun, it has to be more than just boxes. ^_^

Can a mod just lock this topic? Thanks to the people that gave advice but it seems some people just got off topic and started babbling about plane modeling vs other methods.
