get this one its fairly cheap and its a good card. http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDe ... 319&depa=0

i have a 9800 pro from the same company and it runs great. and hunter where did he mention he is worried about money. and for someone who always likes to mention the edit btton and such what happened? :?
yeah, I know, I DP'ed... and I'm sorry... I didn't mean to...

but anyway, even if he didn't mention money, I was just saying that the 9800 series is just excessively expensive for what it is. for example, with the 9600 pro, i can run Halo 1024x768 with all the graphic features enabled and get a rock solid 70 fps. the 9600 pro can be found for between 150 and 200 (its retail price), which I think is a much better deal than paying twice as much for a card that'll run 30 more fps... most screens these days dont average any higher than 75 hertz, so anything above that is futile... and it is to the human eye anyway.

Should I get a new card? I have about 330 bucks, but Im betting I need around 500 bucks for a card that will let me play halo with no errors or inturuptions.
Could someone help me out?
just reinstall your graphics card drivers. that should solve your problem :)
So all I have to do is reinstall my graphics card drivers and It will stop restarting for sure?

The other reason I want a new video card is to make halo look even better, does anyone with a Radeon 256mb card have a screenshot of them playing so I can see the diference?

more specifically, its about the dedicated processing power your card provides - not really the ram size. thats a misconception. although having the onboard ram be DDR helps too... so when buying, look for 'projected' processing power or 'performance' processing power - anything above 450 should be sufficient...

ha the asus limited edition one is the exact same, all it does is its cooler because what it has two fans and a heat sink correct? so u could probably overclock it more but no need as of now with the games we have, the big price jump from a 9600 is that its uses 8 pipes and anything under a 9700 uses 4 so thats a big deal for some games, and yeah a 9600 pro is going to run well but if later he wants to have a great experience with the games comin out (hl2, doom III, far cry etc) then having the 9800xt will out perform the others by alot and u will be really telling a difference between them, for halo no u probably wont be able to tell a big difference at least not for 200 dollars but in the long run u have to think that way, "well what will i be playing in the future" and I think if ur gonna save up for somthing might as well save up for the best or close to because u cant go wrong with it. And yes just because a card is 256 doesnt mean its good, look at the 5200 256 = pos, but yes there are some amazing cards with 256 - 9800pro256 9800xt 5950 etc, but u can find benchmarks all over the net, but if ur not far off from saving I would go with the 9800xt it will be worth it in the end'

true, but you dont realize that eventually you'll be saying the same thing for the 9800 XT sooner or later... for someone like me who doesn't have a lot of money, the cheaper I can go while keeping performance is good...

but anyway, I didn't even buy my gfx card for Halo in the first place, I bought it for star trek, EF-II... which it sufficed for plenty at the time... and then I bought HPC, and found that it ran it fine, so thats my story...
