[MOD] METROID TUNNEL by JC and Headshot
So... is it supposed to be some kind of trade secret which machs you use? I asked twice, but no answer to what the round part is made of. It's fine, I guess; I opened the map and found it anyway. Sorry, if it's considered flaming, but I consider it to be severely childish to want to keep secrets so you can be a better hacker than everybody else. Hacking is about community. Look over in the Halo 2: Modding General thread: I've shared every discovery I've made.
Or, I guess my posts might've gotten overlooked--it's a busy thread after all, so if it's not about the stupid 1337 h4x0r crap (I hate leet-speak) then I apologize.

Did we ever consider maybe Headshot just wants the chance to USE his discovery once or twice? Hell, If I found something really neat, I'd release a mod, maybe two, before putting out a full tutorial.Snaku wrote:So... is it supposed to be some kind of trade secret which machs you use? However, this isn't really something new, this is still Mach Inject, which anybody can do... To find neat machs, I suppose you would have to just go through the Campaign maps and find some good ones.

B) should i make a list of the machs for each mod i make?you could have pmed me instead of treating me as childish. if you got something personal to say then click the PERSONAL MESSAGE button thats what other do.
C)

hmm im not sure about that but youSorry, if it's considered flaming, but I consider it to be severely childish to want to keep secrets so you can be a better hacker than everybody else
Sorry. I did throw a little disclaimer at the end about how, if it was just overlooked then never mind or something like that.
I guess I understand that homework/foreigner thing. I just see the whole thing differently: we're supposed to be a community and we all contribute what we can. Personally, I have no programming skills, but I'm a little above average on problem solving, so when someone asks a question I can answer I do it, and if I think I can find the solution, I do it, and share with the community.
Again, sorry. I didn't pm, 'cuz I figured you probably get about a million pm's every time you release a mod with something new, and it'd just be easier to ask in the thread. Next time, I'll pm.
Oh, and no, I don't think you should make up a list or anything. Just didn't realize my posts had been overlooked.

This might be mimesis material but its kind of gay when everyones like, youre so great this deserves this and that, youre a god, have my babies, depp de durrp. Ill just say Awesome job , headshot. Next time go all out Machs, Bsp, projectile swaps, physics, models, EVERYTHING. I know people dont like projectile swaps but Id liek to see what you do with other areas of modding. Anyway man, good luck with mimesis. Im testing now and its worthy, I just wish we had more vehicle type maps on mimesis. The coag one you did ( I think it had the shadow in it ) was tight but the topic got locked over at mimesis. You should post it again on its own.

MACH -tags from single player aren't secretSnaku wrote:So... is it supposed to be some kind of trade secret which machs you use? I asked twice, but no answer to what the round part is made of. It's fine, I guess; I opened the map and found it anyway.
these types of mods are the easiest to come up with, 1 big mach makes 1 new map (like Cableroom), fix all spawns, voila new nice looking map...
sentinel base, 2 machs spawned, new skin, fixed spawns voila..
fixing the spawns would probably take the most time..
this map basically is a few machs spawned, what makes it even harder to make because of the spawnpoints / creativity.. new skin and a VERY promising map this has become..
still too bad that his secured serenity patch didnt work outSnaku wrote:I asked twice, but no answer to what the round part is made of. It's fine, I guess; I opened the map and found it anyway.
the only thing childish here is that you don't get the concept of these kinds of maps, which is easy as hell.. there's no secret involved, just working brain. and some willingnessSnaku wrote: Sorry, if it's considered flaming, but I consider it to be severely childish to want to keep secrets so you can be a better hacker than everybody else. .

lol yes that can be, dutch trainers are known for their results just like Guus Hiddink that man became a god during the world cups of 2002 and southern korean people we're bowing down to his feet..JesseCuster wrote:PS: Bert van Marwijk is the best trainer that we ever had in Dortmund!!
cant wait till new world cups, they are next door
I didn't say that I didn't understand how it was done. What happened is I was curious which mach he had used, and I asked. My post got overlooked--it's a busy thread--so I asked again. Got overlooked again, and I mistook this to be deliberate. Add that to the fact that the first release was a secured serenity, and I just sort of figured he wanted to keep it a secret. What everyone seems to be overlooking, is that, at the end of my post, I did add that, if my posts had been overlooked I was sorry.stoner4life wrote:the only thing childish here is that you don't get the concept of these kinds of maps, which is easy as hell.. there's no secret involved, just working brain. and some willingness
But, as far as thinking the people who keep their secrets are childish: yeah I do think that. The whole hacking thing, open source and all that, it's about everybody in the community working toward a goal, and it only hinders things when individuals want to keep things to themselves because it makes them look cool or whatever. My goal here is to have fun maps to play, so if I come up with an idea, work on, make discoveries, and then someone steals my ideas and releases before me, I can still play on the new map so how is that a bad thing? Not like I care if anybody thinks I'm an awesome modder or anything: I want fun maps so I'll work toward that goal.
I got to ranting a bit there. I'm done. I won't be posting anymore in this thread about anything but this map, which, btw is a new favorite among my friends and I.
