Xbox FTP ~ Question

Okay, my xbox and computer are both hooked up to my 2wire router (which randomly changes the IP of w/e is connected to it). So i can't figure out my xbox's IP adress

Also, i have an ethernet port on the back of my tower, which is being used for my internet on my computer. I tried to unplug it, and have the xbox directly connected to it, but the FTP program wouldnt work then...

So my question is, my computer need to have an internet connection along with being connected to my xbox? (and if so, how could i do it?)
