Ladders...

Post by RunningRiot »

I'm at school right now, so I'll investigate this when I get home... but how do ladders work now? Is it an object like scenery? Or is it a flag... or what?

I want to put a ladder in Blood Gulch for a platform mod I'm working on, so I need to research a little more about them.

EDIT: (gotta love VNC) I just checked, and in battlecreek, the ladder is part of the BSP mesh... damn... doesn't look like we'll be having ladders in my mod. Oh well... I'll just do a ramp (>_<)

ladders are just a piece of the bsp which has the 'walk on walls' type feature enabled for them...

they're not scenery, and I dont think you can duplicate them...

Well, it can't be the walk on walls feature as we know it, because that is for global use by a biped to walk on the normal of the plane like the ground...

Ladders are climbed vertically.

But, its something along those lines, I looked in SE3 earlier.

yes, of course... but btw, if the ladders were wider, you could walk sideways too, not just upward... but anyway, youre absolutely right. we don't really have a way to 'make' ladders now, and I doubt we'll even be able to do it with HEK...
