Scraping my old computer
Right now i have a dead computer setting in my closet. Its been in there for about a month and i got to do something about it!!! My old one has a 60 gig hard drive and a CD RW/DVD drive. Can i hook these up to my new computer? As far as everything else my old computer is a pile of crap.

BEEF!!! wrote:If it still runs you can make it into a home server. This is good so you only have to share one computer and you can get access to your music, movies, word docs, etc.
Or you can just rip out the otha stuff and stick it in your new comp.
And i'm asking how to put in the stuff.i have a dead computer

Ah, sorry. Missed that lil' fact.llamaboy772 wrote:BEEF!!! wrote:If it still runs you can make it into a home server. This is good so you only have to share one computer and you can get access to your music, movies, word docs, etc.

You should just be able to pop open you computer, and plug them in. If the old CD drive doesn't have an IDE cable (or whatever interface it is) you'll have to find one. But then you should just be able to plug it in, and plug in the 4 pin power connector from your PSU to it.llamaboy772 wrote:Actrally my computer only has one Lightscribe drive, and a expansion slot for a new drive.....and why have wasted space? You should set up a Linux cluster and make a big Folding@Home rig or something.VoYdE wrote:i have like 1000 old windows 95 pcs they sit in my basement because they are to old to bother with, they take up a ton of space
As a matter of fact, here's a link to Parallel Knoppix for setting up temporary Linux clusters.
