Vertices and Indices

Finish a new model/mesh? Got something you're working on? Finish a new map? Here's the place to post it for feedback and whatnot.

Vertices and Indices

Post by scar tissue »

Okay, I have a model I want to replace the MC with but I have a problem.

Okay, knowing that the vertices and indices must match to import my model, I added vertices to my model.

Now, both my model and the cyborg model have matching vertices, but not matching indices? How do I add indices so that I may inject this model into the game and replace (instead of remake) the Master Chief model?

Also, if there is a much easier way to import this model (aside from PMI, its being screwy on me) then please let me know. Thanks! :D

---------------------------------------------------------
little notes I've taken while working with this:
ODST:
2219 Vertices
3816 Indices

Cyborg:
2256 Vetices
3867 Indices

Must go from 2219 to 2256 Vertices
Must go from 3816 to 3867 Indices

----------------
vertices problem solved
Must go from 3816 to 3867 Indices
----------------

Maximum indices allowed for this model: 3867
My model has: 4138

Just use the cut tool on faces to make edges, and vertices, keep going till the number is right.

For Milkshape?

If so, under the face tab is options like:
reverse vertex order
subdivide 3
subdivide 4
turn edge
face to front
create face
smooth all
---------------
hide faces
subdivide 2
Where's the cut option?

He was talking about 3ds max or Gmax not Milkshape

Oh okay.

Is there a way to clear this up with Milkshape or must 3dsMax or GMax?

I don't know Milkshape well but there has to be a way to add vertices.

Oh yeah. I did add vertices, thats not the problem.

I need to take away Indices but I'm not quite sure what those are or what they do so I'm not sure how to go about that.

Theres got to be a way in milkshape to connect vertices with an edge.
