Blood Gulch: Recompiled. *REDONE pics on 2nd page*

Post by TsukasaZero »

I got bored today since I had a snow day, and took some time off from my studying and other project and played around with logs in BG. What has so far resulted is a 3 level remake of Blood Gulch.

The 1st floor is just BG's bottom, with all the vehicles, weapons, and powerups removed. The only things there are the bases, and even the teles are rerouted. From a stairway in each base takes you to the 2nd floor, made out of those delisious logs. It contains hallways, small to large rooms, and 2 warthogs (rocket and regular) and a ghost. Through an entrance ramp, you go to the 3rd floor/roof. From here you have an incredible view of....logs. On each end of the map, each team has a large wooden fortrees which guards the flags.

Basically, its BG times 3. Im still working on the rooms of the 2nd floor and filling in the roof. I'll have pics up in a few hours (when everything looks nice and tidy) and maybe the mod will be available tomorrow or Sunday.

Until then, PEACE!

Ok, I've got some more done, but the pics FRAPs takes are 900k each. Anyone know of a trust-worthy host that can take 900k for free?

K, here are the pics of what I have done so far. Sorry about the double post.

NOTE: THIS IS VERY EARLY. IN OTHER WORDS, NOT FINAL VERSION.

Image

This is a wide shot of the first thing I did. Its a basic path along the walls to the base and the neutral zone. The sniper tower is now a walk in the park to get to (well, when Im finished it will be).

Image
Outside of one of the bases. I WILL re-do this to make it quite larger and complex.

Image
Inside of one of the bases. Note: The little logs appear full on the outside but are transparent on the inside. Going to replace those later.

Image

The "Neutral Zone Shrine". This indicates that you are in about the middle of the map.

Image

This is the ramp from the middle floor to the roof. I sized it just right for a warthog and a ghost to use.

Image

It looks like this on either side of that cliff.

NOTE: I have constructed half of the middle floor at this time of posting. I hope to have the whole roof and middle floor done by tonight, work on the rooms finished by tomorrow morning, and a release on Sunday or Monday.

ALSO: Everything will be covered in logs. The middle floor will block all visibility from the ground floor and the top floor will block all visibility to the ground floor. Turrets will be placed in strategical locations, along with rocket hogs, regular hogs, and ghosts.

hmmm, an entire new floor with logs sounds way better than log house mods, but wont it lag a lot? just wondering out loud :D

This is funny problem I need to fix.
Apparently the only way the logs render when you look straight is if you go toward the red base. If you look down or zoom, you see fine, but you cant see straight going to the blue base.

In other words, red would get raped.

Anyone know how to fix those rendering errors or do I have to wait for that Fast Shaders thing?

hmmm... Ive never actually seen this type of thing happen, just heard of it... you probably will need to wait... in the meanwhile, just mess around with their placement...

Its weird....the areas that took me 2 days to make and had loads of graphical glitches took me 10 minutes to do with no gfx glitches....

Remember, I did have well over 1000 tree trunks before I updated...
