[WIP]Desert Eagle

Post by gh0570fchurch »

i started on modeling for a deserting eagle, and i need to work on the back of the handle a little more, but other than that the geometry for the handle is almost done, what you thing... also take into consideration i am a beginner at modeling... illl continue wok on it tommorow, but for now, i have to go to bed... and by the way this was done in gmax with box modeling (as you can see), what you see took me about half an hour...

That's the bit he's done... it looks wrong. I can't fully explain, but it just does. Mainly because the slant to the edges is in the wrong place and wrong angle, but it looks a bit too wide, too...

Not bad for a beginner, but needs work.

3 different boxes for only the handle, i would say learn plane modelling but it seems you still need to learn how to polygon model.

srry about the sig... i meant to resize that... ill have to do that... but for now.. its not done, yet, ill finish the modeling, then skin it, attach the boxes togethor, and wala, you have a desert eagle, and i put it over the original pic for comparison

You should try plane modeling. More efficient and less frustrating. Alone with more detail.

Please continue to update. I've always loved the DE.

He is doing it all wrong, understandable since he seems new to modelling, thats why i said learn further polygon modelling. Because his modelling is pretty much taking a bunch of primitives and modelling pieve by piece.

I suggest doing some more tutorials on Polygonal modelling then taking the jump to planes since they are more efficient and could save you polys if done right.

This guy whom I dont remember the name of, made a tutorial on plane modeling a baretta, its like 7 parts or something (I have it somewhere on my old harddrive).

Upon watching and following it, I learned to plane model, thus making my attempts at making guns, much better and more realistic.

I started off liek you are with the DE, however, and got many possitive comments on my outcomes (probably because I had them skinned as well).

So keep doing what your doing, getting used to the program, them move onto the next step. If you need help drop me a PM.

i'm only kidding. the video d/l may take forever, but, it's worth the wait. patience is a virtue. no shit.

Dude. No. Do you even know who Katarn and Snaf are? They are some of the few 1337est modelers that have ever set foot in CE. =D

i know, i must be doing something wrong here, but how do you think i am for a beginner, and what do you think of my potential as a modeler?

it aint bad for a beginner, like i said you could do that handle with one box if you practice a little more.
