Covenant City [IMG]

Post by Doctor »

How does this look for a Covenant Building. I have no idea what they look like, so I just thought of something abstract. This is a really quick building, took like 10 minutes. It has a bad render, but it is just a rough for the design.

looks nothing like covenant architecture. an example of a covenant city would be High Charity. here's a few renders of my work to give you an idea.

a nice try, though. the architecture is supposed to be very organic, rather than geometric.

Hmm, I supose it doesn't Nice modeling Snaf, how do you get those cool shapes in gmax? I have explored all the shapes and I can't get anything like that. [Like the half circles over the doorway combined with the rectangle, did you use a spliced tube and 3 rectangles?]

No it doesnt. It actually has the same basics(EG. Box, triangle, blah blah) but it dont have the snow engines and nurbs surfaces and other stuff in the create tab like 3ds max.

Why would you need the snow engine and nurbs(ok MB!) for modeling?

Doctor if I'm not mistaken Snaf used Plane and Spline modeling.

don't steal his topic? if you read my post correctly, you wouldn't haved said something that stupid. instead, you would know i was giving examples of what covenant architecture looks likke.

You CAN model like this in gmax. it was all plane modeled. i used gmax before i used max. you don't need all the advanced features of studio max to model like this.

that's besides the point... you're going off topic. i'm trying to help him learn. if you're just going to talk about my renders vs his, stop posting about it.

feel free to ask me about how i modeled any part of the architecture. it would be nice if you would experiment and ask questions, so we could see your progress.

Practice face deleating and vertex dragging.
Almost everything you want to do can be done with thoes two tool.

And incase you don't know how to get there go to editmesh.

Thansk much everyone, no need to get mad at eachother -_-.

I'll work on those techniques. Did you get the shape of the pillars by face deleting and vertex dragging, Snaf?

If you could, if you have time, can someone make a vid tutorial on this? I'll also look up some more tutorials.

/Edit

It took almost 45 minutes, but I have a little covenant like artchitecture to show. I used the drag vertex, and the mirror tool. I don't know how to merge objects, so it is a bunch of seperate peices. (If someone could tell me how to merge objs, that would be great)
