yeah, i re-rigged my models recently to make all of the metal/armor parts rigid and all of the rubber/skin deformable by hand on both the elite and the mc. I'm having more trouble with the arms this time aroud, as you can see, so i'm still in the tweaking phase.

Guess that's what happens when you use a super detailed 4096x4096 normal map, eh Jean?

And I couldn't find anything in the reference files...mind sharing how you did the realtime viewport Veegie?

A line is a line, no matter how high resolution it is. It just comes down to image compression and super sampling.

Higher resolution normal maps allow for more detail.

Go take a 4096x4096 normal map and a 512x512 one. See which one will look better in the end.

higher resolution textures do help, but supersampling can make the difference when higher resolution textures are not available. Of course supersampling almost triples my render times on average, but the settings are very adjustable.

His right, our left, shoulder and knee look a little weird. And the detail map on his armor makes it look...too dirty. Yes, I know it's armor, it should be dirty, blah blah. And his right, our left, leg seems to be going through part of the foot. And his left, our right, foot seems to be in a somewhat unnatural pose.

That is the specular level map, not detail map....

You seem to have excuses for everything, veegie. I agree 100% with AeonFlux's comments.

The shoulder is very easily fixed, you just do not know how to fix it.

and yes, his right calf is going through the top of the foot.

Oh and trep, don't lecture me on rigging. When you struggled for over a half hour and ended up blocking me because I wouldn't fix two vertice weights on a head bone of the masterchief rig given to you by Doc.

i don't recall lecturing anyone on rigging, veegie. i simply stated that it was a simple error and could be easily fixed. you need to calm down.

Lecture is an almost direct synonym to inform. To which you easily meet the criteria.

It is when you act as if you're in a position to tell someone what can and cannot be fixed as far as rigging.

When you're in a position too. I'd rather not have my topic filled with comments that are backed up unjustly and based off of uninformed and uneducated logic. It can escelate very easily and quickly and be set as a determining factor for future work. Which could be quite negative if not nipped at the bud.
