ummmmm do i only need this program or... cus like i cant find any files to convert. im a newb at this stuf like i just started this week could anyone help :?: :?: :oops: :oops:

It really helps if you have HMT3 by monoxide. Using it you go into bitmaps, click one, and hit export to the right. It takes out the bitmap, you turn it into a Jpeg with convim and you can load it into paint and edit it.

umm... this is weird how it wont let me log in... i'm pretty sure you guys have files.halomods and halomods.com/forum log in names different... that's annoying

well why i'm replying:

i'm having a big problem here trying to inject DDS DXT2/DXT3 (things like gravel, leaves, overhead view, etc.) bitmaps. is there any plugin or new version of convim that supports converting to DDS DXT2/DXT3?

wat do u mean... from or to DDS. if its to a BMP from a DDS make sure u r selecting DirectDrawSurface (DDS). if its To a dds just select DDS DXT1 Texture.

i mean it works all great and fine BUT it can't convert to the DDS DXT2/DXT3, only to the DDS DXT1

is there any way that i can convert to DXT2/DXT3? several skins in every map use DXT2/DXT3 and trying to substitute a DXT1 for it will screw up your map for you

ok nevermind, i got it to work, however not using convim

a better program i think is directx's summer 2003 SDK pack. There is a program in there called DXTex that can convert BMP's to DXT1/2/3/4/5 and DXT1/2/3/4/5 to BMP's very nicely, though it is a bit less user-friendly than convim.

get HMT3 and load the map and look under bitmaps

eventually you will find a file in there called something like warthog.dds

extract it

change and edit and change back to dds again

inject it

walah your done

when i try to convert my BMP back into a dds i go down to the convert button and it gives me an error stating. "invalid floating point operation."
No matter what i do i cant get around this problem. Im trying to reskin the sniper rifle and when i open the decal dds that is on the scope (fake radar) in this program it shows about 1/3 light green near the bottom of the dds in the preview, where the radat should be. It can convert it to a BMP but it cant convert it back to a DDS. Ive tryed other textures too of vehicles and other weapons, they all have the same problem when i try to convert them back into a DDS. PLEASE HELP!! :D

ok so i got this thing now but wtf does it do i know people are saying cool now they can make textures but how whats a bmp file and a dds file cause i dont have photoshop and id like to skin
