I LOVE it. VERY nice job.
May I ask what kind of reflections you used on that master chief in the last render though? It almost appears to be HDR.

might be because the mc's hunched over.

but im making it bigger than the mongoose because i want the physics to be better so it doesnt flip on the slightest turn like all the mongooses ive seen do

A common misconception. I've written a tutorial on how to render with HDR via standard scanline renderer here.

The model isn't even complete, and for Halo 1. Since Halo 2 doesn't support vertice weights or proper node checksum re-importing.

I like it a lot, especially the detail, like the lever on the right hand side on that last render you posted *the top down*.

a few suggestions/ crits:

1) overall, i think the design is quite nice. you're doing very well with this vehicle.

2) the chassis sits too low for a vehicle of its use. raise the stance about 6 inches, and it should look a lot better.

3) the rim and tire size doesn't look convincing. a low profile tire on a vehicle of it's use is well... unrealistic. look into rock crawling rim and tire sizes. or, better yet, look at the proportions they have on other atv's.

the purpose of having a tall sidewall on an offroad tire is to grip the terrain better. often, offroaders lower their tire pressure to around 10 psi, so the sidewalls collapse down, and catch onto rocky surfaces better.

4)the seating position of the rear passenger is very awkward. the backrest is very minor, as well as the footrest. i suggest you bring the footrest outwards, so the legs are extended. in the real world, it would offer more bracing ability to the occupant and it would just be more comfortable. also, it would be better ballanced.

also, make the backrest taller. that way it's more supportive.

5) the headlights look goofy. make them aim straight, not cross.

6) the bar behind the suspension arms has no purpose. if you're going to try to make up suspension, i suggest you understand real suspension attributes first. that bar would limit travel a lot, and make landings quite a bit harder. look up bumpstops for suspension, and you'll probably understand where to go from there with it.

good luck, keep up the hard work. if you need any pointers on this, pm me. i'm a transportation design student, so i know my stuff.

weel ive been working on 2 projects right now so i havent had much time to work on the hyena for a while but i do have a pic of the wheel i made to look more offroad.

Im not going to add treads because im going to add a bitmaps of treads and a bumpmap of treads to reduse the poly count.

much nicer. i think that tire looks correct now. the wall height is good. going to do a halo 2 tread style for these in the bump and bitmap?
