Sweet, I can't wait to see this thing ingame. I really need to learn to UV and animate though

Weapon info (because I can :P)

I designed this gun for a mod which has not yet been made. The general idea behind it was a weapon that would fit well with the Halo set of weapons yet appear a generation or so behind, as the mod was to be a prequel to Halo where UNSC Marines are fighting off rebel factions. It will fit quite comfortably into most games, but is not skinned and animated yet. The rifle comes in scoped and unscoped versions, and a support weapon version, plus a standard issue rifle with attached grenade launcher.

Backstory

The AR19A2 rifle, standard issue to many rebel armies, is extremely useful in all combat situations and environments. It is roughly equivalent to the UNSC's BR55, or Battle Rifle, although its higher power scope and bipod, as well as its removable silencer, make it a far stronger long-range weapon. Essentially, the rifle fills three roles much as the German FG-42 of WWII vintage; an assault rifle, a sniper rifle, and a suppression weapon all in one. The AR19's quick accessory attachment system allows a grenade launcher to be mounted in place of the forend, a scope in place of the rear sight, a peep sight in place of the rear sight, a lengthened barrel for the support version or a silenced one for the sniper, and a fixed bipod. This makes it an extremely versatile wepaon which can be adapted to any combat situation.

Specifications

Class: General purpose rifle
Calibre: 7.62mm NATO AP
Action: Gas; semi- or full auto.
Cyclical Rate of Fire: 600-850 rounds/minute
Magazine Capacity: 25 rounds (scoped version; box); 30 rounds (unscoped 'standard' version; box); 50 rounds (unscoped suppression version with bipod; drum)
Sights: Blade front; aperture rear ('standard' version); 15x scope (sniper version); blade front; adjustable peep rear (suppression version)
Other features:
> 3-position fire selector (safe; semi; auto)
> 'Bullpup' configuration for balance, similar to the UNSC counterparts
> Lightweight, spongy yet strong composites used to construct stock cut down on weight, noise, and recoil.
> Advanced internal cooling system ensures weapon will not overheat easily.
> Lengthened magazine contains small computer capable of interfacing with optional ammo counter LCD display similar to MA5B assault rifle.

some criticism, the stock is wayyyyyyy too long. shorten that sucker up and it'll possibly look mint.

i'd like to see it done right.

Yeah, I might make a carbine version too. Bringing the grand total up to 6... :P And as well as that, I checked a few pics of other rifles, and that stock is only a little longer than what seems normal for an assault rifle.

I personally love it, especially the last version. Looks awsome. I think it looks like it has a lack of detail, almost cartoonish. But that is probably fixable by skinning it. Anyway, keep up the great work, it's awsome.

Some more critism: for one, the "support" version would be nearly impossible to use. The Drum clip would get in the way of the operators hands in real life. Another thing is, How would you pull the trigger for the grenade launcher part of it, without a handle, I mean when you pulled the trigger, the kick would come back and could break your fingers w/o a handle to hold onto, and you wouldn't be able to aim very well seeing as how you would be holding the gun with your left hand at the front, in front of the c.o.g. Looks good though. I had a question too...
--what program are you using? Also, for UVW mapping, google UVW mapping, and click on the second link from the top. I would give you the link, but I am at my grandparent's house.

GMax.

Few things. Firstly, if you've ever seen the M203, it has the same layout (launcher has no grip). So it must work. Secondly I can't really see the magazine getting in the way, although it is rather hard to tell just as it is.

Thirdly, yeah the renders won't look great because I'm using Gmax, and you can't render, and the lack of detail will easily be fixed with a decent skin.

think about it, you are trying to hold the gun by the handle, where does your arm go? it lays flat against the rest of the stock, right where the support clip is, so you would have to hold your arm way out to get around the clip...
and as for the M203

i dont think that the support clip would be in the way, if it hits anything i think it would be your chest when you have it butted up in your shoulder

Guys, hes just making this model for a game, so it wouldnt really matter. but if u really wanna fix it anyway, just put the clip in front of the trigger like the picture that dyer sent, instead of behind.

Um... Your arm wouldn't be totally straight, it would just clear the magazine. And as for the 203, yes, that's true, but... meh. It's for a game.
