Guys! i mean really!!! i wont say it cant be that hard but i imagine this would make one hell of a map! i had an idea to maybe make this and then continue onto a covenant flagship and shit make it so you could enter the nearby planets atmosphere

my idea was was make the fog look like the planet to make it loo k like the atmosphere? it would look cool...and you could land in the ship launch escape pods...mac gun...the works...i mean come on our FIRST step was makeing the bridge chairs pilotable...cant people just STOP assumeing its impossible and step up to this? i mean people made a longsword! a phantom! THE WORKS!!! come on people this ISNT impossible...i imagine if we got a big group together we could make the greatest mod EVER!

You would have to turn the POA into an actual vehicle. While the players interact inside of it, it would cause lag, random deaths, etc.

There are many flaws, that's the only problem. We are limited to what the engine can allow.

you guys just gave me the greatest Idea for a map in HaloCE.... I'll reveal the Idea when I get PC back. If i dont have it by this weekend I'll reveal then :)

i like ur attitude guys,especially u elite. your right patrick it did work out pretty nice with the longsword fighter. no u cant walk around the ship or load vehicles onto it,but seats have been added all around it so u can comfortably sit where u desire. The only problem with the poa is that it isnt a little bigger than a hog or a pelican,its about 50X bigger,meaning lag and random deaths from small movement like supersunny said. unless we could perfect it somehow it would be hard to make it so u can land on the ship and walk around on it,without adding about 400 seats that is. no doubt i believe this is possible but it will take some very skilled moders.

Then after we make the POA we can make a ship that holds covenant ships and human ships and the huge ship could have rooms where u teleport to different sections and there is a machine where u can spawn bots to protect u from invaders. each team gets one huge ship (Battle Ship mb?) and you fight in space :twisted: my do i have an intense mind :P

Its almost impossible to make a fully solid model...so that you won't fall through it like the ls..And yes this would probably lag beyond belief...BSP->Model...Plus its not a one man job and could take a very long time....also the size should be taken into account....looking at the pillarofautumnspace.map...

lmao, not even. It would have to be huge. Those ships fly extremly fast, you just cant tell because of the vastness of space. but the POA is about 5km in size. the warthog run is only 1 area. in order to have a good battle, the map would have to be about 30-50km to be decent.

there would be so much lag with a map that huge. but if u stuck in some planets and halo in the middle or something it would be interesting.
actually nevermind,by the time we pull this off it will like a year later and people might have more powerful comps and it would be able to handle the map. imagine flying the POA with MY framerate. i only get 16FPS when i fly it
everything will lag and blurr by so fast. unless i get a new comp that can give
me 68 FPS :D

Even if you get a Halcyon-class cruiser into a map, what's the point, really? It would be like the longsword in hugeass; it's large, easy to spot, and can be easily overtaken by a smaller vehicle. It doesn't really have any practical use.

Besides, realistically, it takes a whole crew of people to maintain and fly a ship like that. I don't think the Master Chief would be able to fly something like that on his own.

If you really, REALLY want to do this, go right ahead. I'm not stopping you. Do it? Sure, if you can. Is it a good idea worth pursuing? Probably not.

u wouldnt have some dumb noob flying the poa around,one person would pilot it,the other person would man the cannon. kinda like a huge warthog.
the poa wouldnt easily be overtaken by small vehicles. it would take a total of
6 nukes to destroy,and the crew would feel about 1% of the damage dealed to the poa.

I think you should just have two PoA type vehicles side by side (like Boarding Action, but with MUCH more detail and features). The entire bridge can have AI who "appear" to by flying the ship and its weaponry, just give it a feel. Then, each ship will be whole (that includes, armories, hangars, bridges, maintainance access ways, etc., etc.) and players will be able to fly from one ship to the other through space. That would be one insane map and you wouldn't have to think of flying the large ships. It eliminates the need to figure such a project out (i.e. flying the PoA) yet still makes such a map fun.

I would love to fly it too, but the problems with it that have been already stated (plus the many problems that are most likely going to pop up when the project is in motion) it just doesnt seem too worth it.

You should give it some additions of its own. like guns on the bottom and cannons on the side. The guns on the bottom/bottom edges are to defend it from ground attacks and attack people on the ground, and the Cannons/Anti-Air on the Side/Top Edges are to defend/attack air opposition. but there should be ways to get in. like a hanger bay. that way, your ship can be boarded, attacked from the inside and eventually, taken over. but it works both ways. and the cannons on the side can be used to attack the "other POA" when you end up flying by eachother. AND! when you are beside each other, you should be able to jump from your ship to the opponents if your close enough. and you should be able to drive and fly vehicles out of teh ship, if your low enough to the ground, the warthogs can fly out and land safely. Man, I have SOO Many ideas for this now that you've brought it up lol. We should talk on MSN about it or something. Email in Sig.

Once I get haloPC and CE back, Im pursuing this Idea. I love it!

ok i have read post, and i think i might get into this cause this owuld be a great mod here are my ideas

Near the bridge you would only have the bridege and a few rooms behind it.
near the back of the ship u would have hangers for longswords and pelicans.
u wouldnt die of movement, if u remember in hugeass if the pilot keeps the ship steady and lets it hover u can move around all u want. U would have to make the ship slow enough that peopl can go with it and not die but fast enough to get around after 10-15 minutes, also it is only depicted as fast, the background scenery is real small making u seem fast but yer not going that fast, so jsut make a small background and scenery and w/e
For the planets u could have actual planets ppl could land on and do battle bu t they would be real small and somehow the other half of the other planet is clowded so u cant go onto it because halo doesnt allow for planet physics. For the players without ships to get off they could teleport onto the top of the poa and man guns on top of it, yes ther arent guns up there but we could mkae some to fend off enemy vehicles. No nukes just the poa pilot seat can be bombed and destroyed so your stuck going in one direction. Ships never respawn but you start out with liek 200 in different hangers u teleport too. Ctf is basically all its good for, slayer would be crap because ppl would barely encounter each other and be all over te place making a big map with lsot players.
