Banshee in level 2 halo

i was messing around with the wehicles, i swapped a dropship id for a bansheee and a lifepod for a warthog, and i found this mistake in level 2 halo.

I walked around the corner to the base shooting the signal thingy, and i found an elite in a banshee, it was flaying it into a tree, not moving, so i crawled underneath and it said 'press 'SPACE' to enter driver seat of banshee' so i did and i was in there with the elite, i couldnt control it, but in previous lifes on the level, i found it dissappears after a short period of time, and so, i stayed in until the dissappear time, but, this time it didnt dissapear, i took control of it, i could fly it around, do whatever i wanted on the the level, but, every now and then, it would plummet to the ground, and i would loose control so i get out and get back in again, i have control again, i know this question is dumb, but:

Does this normally happen, and also why did this happen?

lol thats odd...how did you get in? wasnt he flying? hmm very odd Well they did make them un-drivable, so when u swapped u made it drivable, and they never made it so more than 1 person cant fit because they figured u cant get in...maybe... never seen it happen

i think what happened was like kamatzu said ur not supposed to fly that one so when u added 2-driver or whatever it might have just changed the seat so like if u do that to the wraith the elite will be standing on top of the wraith instead of inside so for the banshee this might change it where they are still in it and not on top so u were able to get in, dont know it still doesnt make sense to me.

all i did was change the offset for the dropship under vehicle tag for the banshee and the vehicle tag for the life pod a warthog, didnt add seats or anything, and i dunno even if there was an elite in there, my theory is that it was a dropship tryin to leave, cause also no dropships came, and it was tryin to do its flying away from dropping off thingy, and, it would get to the point where it was ment to go out of the level, the tree in this case, and it would be mine for the taking, also, that way i could get in, because it was swapped and it has no driver, just ai

I've swapped the hog for a banshee in Level 2 before and it appears just like a normal drivable banshee. You can get in and fly around to your heart's content. Perhaps the "you can't get in" command only goes into effect once the vehicle has been "occupied" by an AI controlled Elite?

er, i didnt swap warthog for the banshee, i swapped dropship for banshee, that what i belive it is,im not quite sure what your tryin to say...

Ahh, I understand. That's strange that you didn't get an exception error though. I always get one when I try to swap anything for the covie dropship, because nothing else can actually hold bipeds besides the pelican, so the game doesn't know what to do.

Hey peabnuts, did the Banshee ever just like freeze on you? I did this a while back, and every once and a while the Bahsee would freeze. Usually when I got to close to like the rock wall or whatever. It was pretty weird...

I've still yet to fly around the Pillar of Autumn on the last level. I've gotten a Banshee, and I've gotten inside it...I just couldn't get the dang thing out of the stupid bay things! The ceiling wasn't tall enough. I might play around with it some more and see if I can get it to work...

Well, there is that issue in the first area where if you get above a certain height, when the beam fires it freezes you.

maybe all the driver seats from the dropship where still there, considering the cd gun is AI based and is a biped...the elite could very well have originaly been the gun biped and instead became the driver, considering it is AI based, meaning he is driving, and the driver seat would still be occupiable because the real driver seat would still be open

But see that would imply some sort of "translation" that happened when the CDS became the banshee. How would it decide would "part" of the CDS would "become" the driver seat of the banshee? And furthermore, the elite that appeared would have to be the driver AI, not the gunner AI, because he was obviously driving the banshee along the CDS's route. I can't explain the fact that he was able to get in the banshee along with the Elite, though. That's something that just shouldn't have been possible as far as we know.

i wanna know why the banshee is un-flyable in that level. Several times i have had an Elite pilot a banshee into the cliff wall whrere you first get out (across the bridge) and die. I have been continually pissed that i was unable to get in, despite my efforts to fix it so i can.

it is strange, i dont think it had a guy in the banshee tho, i think that the CDS's just have AI, and so, it was just a normal, empty banshee, except that it had AI so i could get in.
