* Halo Map Tools 3.5 - pretty much the only thing you need to start modding
* .NET Frame Work * - Needed to run HMT
* Halo Hacker Tools 5 - another kind of halo map tools (HMT)
* SparkEdit 3.02 - Halo map Editor
* HHHT - ppf patch aaplyer
* PPF Studio - ppf patch creator
* PPF-O-MATIC - ppf patch applier
* Photoshop DDS Plugin - allows you to make new textures for vehicles, weapons, scenery, etc.
* HDD Hex Editor Installer - Old way of modding (not reccomended for total beginners)
It only opens files that are 10 megabytes or smaller. Which is pretty much worthless for most needs.
think thats noticable enough. I would go with Hex Workshop. I find it helpful.
I can't test this, I need the full version. It works with the demo/trial though. Some people can't get hex workshop's full version. And I made the hex editor in my post noticeable to save searching.

I also use hackman now. The 200 kb file opening is with the free version. Yes, I mean kilobytes, notmegabytes. There are some tutorials, click the link http://www.halomods.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=37
