rossgemuend wrote:yeah, i'm aware of the shadows being like that. I could simply increase the Rays/Sample setting in the light tracer settings too. The lighting isn't really the point of this tutorial though, thanks for the advice anyway. I'm still new to 3dsmax (about 4 months of playing around) but i've heard alot of good things about v-ray, i'll look into it.
Aight, cool man. Good job though, looks really nice. If you can implement hdri(WITH vray of course ;p) init, <3. :D

ok, i just added how to change the armor color to the tutorial. I also separated it into sections instead of one continous tutorial. Reflections are coming next.

ok, so i moved into my dorm at college and i haven't had much time to do anything, but just to give a clue about the reflections in case you haven't already figured it out: use a raytrace material with the color-change map as the filter. i think it's the opacity filter setting under the raytrace material, but i'm not sure. just look at the settings and i'm sure you'll figure it out

when it comes to the masterchief, the visor is completely up to you. there doesn't seem to be a simple texture that you can apply to it or anything. Just make sure it is using the chief's camo bump and has a yellowish color (or the cube map of the reflection named mirror_surface.0.0.dds) and also have the reflections as a raytrace material. lots of specular too

we're not allowed to talk about modding here so go to www.xbox-scene.com. I can hint that you don't need to buy anything at all to mod your xbox. Just softmod like me. look it up.

anyway, college is going great, my gf is only 4 miles away at another college and i'm having the time of my life being around others with the same interests (computer engineering). I'm sorry i haven't had much time to finish this tutorial but i still plan on it.
