I've Never Skinned Before - Please Somebody Help!!

Hey, I have literally never skinned in my life. I've done mods, such as switching the looks of things using HMT, and I've used SparkEdit to add teleporters and the great stuff that u can do with it (and i thank whoever made SparkEdit, Grenadiac, I believe? not 100% sure). anyway, I have a few questions. first, can sum1 plz post a link to, or make a skinning tut for complete skinning noobs that i culd follow? also, does it take 3ds max? if so, wuld gmax work? i cant get 3ds max, my trial ran out, so i gotta use gmax. so plz post if i can do it with HMT, SparkEdit, PSP 9, and/or gmax. all i wanna do is go to, say, Blood Gulch on halo ce or pc, whichever 1 it is, and make the warthog look different. thx.

u use photoshop or paintshop to actually make the skins, hmt to import/export, and ur own creativity to actually think of designs
