Applying materials to certain areas of an object?

Applying materials to certain areas of an object?

Could somebody please tell me how to apply a material to a certain part of an object i'm making for a map? It's in 3DS Max.. I know you have to select the faces you want but i get lost with the material ID and stuff..?

Somebody please help me

Texture1 gooes to sports with MaterialID 1 on it.

So just select the faces and change materialID to 2 and in the material editor under multi-sub\obj there should be numbers on the left side which represent the MaterialID
...left for good

Another question...

I've made a small map.. Just a larg room, u know to get the hang of things.. On the outside i have my sky box and inside that sky box is my room.. When i click "export" it says "there are no actors to export"

What does this mean?? :cry:

Any help wud be highly appreciated..
