.dds plugin problem

Post by Speedy »

Hey guys, did some searching on this topic and haven't found anything, so I figure it's safe to ask. I downloaded three different versions of the .dds plugin for photoshop, and each one of them provides some type of file format error on a majority of the dds files. exact wording is:

"Could not open [filename] because of a problem with file-format module interface"

question: wtf?

http://developer.nvidia.com/object/nv_t ... tools.html

Go there and download the DDS for photoshop plugin.
This is a DXTC texture compression plugin for Adobe Photoshop that allows you to open and save .dds files in RGB format. The plugin reads and writes .dds files compressed or uncompressed.

Requirements: You will need to place the plug-in (dds.8bi) in C:\Program Files\Adobe\photoshop 7.0\plug-ins\file formats and these required dlls (msvcr71.dll and msvcp71.dll) in your Windows\System folder (you will have to extract them from the DLLs.zip file).
Make sure you follow these directions and you grab the DLLs.zip and installed as directed.

that was the very first plugin i tried, and followed the instructions perfectly. still the same error.

basically, whatever HMT3 can't make a preview for, i can't edit.

Can you correctly import ANY bitmaps from HMT3?

a few... very few..

only ones i've found so far that are working (only looked at the hud textures) would be the green friendly arrow and the hud sensor blip.

and it seems that the warthog textures are working okay too
