Problem connecting PC to Xbox via "SmartFTP".. Hel

Post by mmall06 »

Hey ... Ive tired following the tutorial located in the "Halo2 Downloads" Section called ".::How to apply these mods::." Or something like that ... I havn't been able to contact the creator of the tutorial, "Martijn Gelissen"... So i was wondering if any of you great people could help me with my problem..

PROBLEM:

Okay... I recently bought a "Realtek RTL8139(A) PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter" from a local PC shop and installed it in order to transfer halo 2 maps from my xbox to the PC. I have all the tools in the tutorial made by Martijn...

[link to tutorial] = http://files.halomods.com/viewtopic.php?t=21471

I downloaded all the tools need and began to follow each step ... I am now stuck on the first step...
I browse to "system>network" on my modded xbox ... and veiw all the network settings ... IP, FTP settings, DNS, Gateway... ectect ... I type the xbox's I.P address in the address bar on "SmartFTP" ... followed by the username and password (xbox for both) ... as told to by the tutorial...

Address = 193.168.0.3
User = xbox
pass = xbox
port = 21

When i try to connect ... I get an error "A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond."

Before a stupid question is asked for example "Is the xbox turned on?", yes it is ... even though sometimes it can prove to be a common mistake.

I followed the "Troubleshooter" provided by "SmartFTP" and failed to solve the problem... I configured my firewall to "permit all" for "SmartFTP" ... but still got the same problem....

I would be forever greatful if anyone could spare me a moment of their time to help me out :wink:

Here are a number of ways to contact me:

E-mail: michael_mallia12@ntlworld.com
Msn Messenger: mike_mallia10@hotmail.com (do not e-mail msn addy)
PM me: mmall06
XBL Username: mmall06

I am aware that this is such an early post but i have had past experiances with halomods and once i get this probalem solved ... I shall get into modding halo 2 and remain a loyal and proud member of "halomods.com" :D

Yours Faithfully,

23) you should be able to see all the folder like C, E, D and some others
24) ok if that doesn't work put your xbox ip address as 192.168.0.6 and then try it and if that doesn't work something is wrong with your xbox.
25) Good Luck

I think I have that same ethernet card! :).

Ok, the thing to do is this, you dont FTP into the adress on the dashboard. You FTP into the adress the NIC is set to. At least, thats how I do it with mine.
