library mod installation help

Post by eyelevel »

Im able to play library online but I dont think my bitmap and sound files patched the old ones. The library tends to freeze because of this. Now do I just move the new files into the maps folder and delete the old ones? Or move the new ones in and keep the old ones? Can you straighten this out for me?

You'll want to replace putput.map, but it sounds like you already did that. As far as the patches, use HHHT or PPF-o-Matic to apply the patches to the appropriate files and make sure the patched files (bitmaps.map, sounds.map, and optionally ui.map) are in use in the MAPS folder. The way you worded your question, I can't tell whether or not you applied the patches at all. If you're not clear how to use .ppf patches, there's a sticky about that in this forum.

I am pretty sure he did what I did a few weeks ago before I used PPF-o-Matic. He tried to move the file into the sounds or bitmap file by dragging it into there.

Sorry about the wording Im a scatterbrain. I take it I need a 3rd party application to apply the patches. All I did before was drag and paste the patches into the maps folder. Thanks for the help!

I applied the patches using ppfomatic and everything seems to be working fine. I know see the title "the library" when Im searching for servers. But when I try to connect to the library halo craches. All the other maps work fine. Do I have to apply the map files itself to? Putput.map? I deleted chiron.

Nevermind I fixed it. Just had to delete the new library.ppf files from the maps folder.

well...it appears sometimes it works and sometimes halo crashes when clicking on a multiplayer library map.

You might want to make sure the server you're joining is ACTUALLY running The Library. With that map installed, if someone is running Chiron TL34, it will show up as The Library (because of the map replacement). If you try to join a server that is ACTUALLY running Chiron, I would assume the game would crash.
