My First Model

Post by maca_§ »

This is my first 'from-scratch' Model ever.
I got no idea what I'm doing (lol) and I made it in Cinema 4D.
And yes I know it's pretty dodge in places :P.
What do you think of my first ever model?

Yeah, I'm gunna get 3ds Max to make my gun Models instead of using Cinema 4D.
3ds seems easier to use and has actually got tutorials on how to make Model guns.

Try using some good modeling techniques like spline, plane or nurbs modeling, your model looks ok, but is made up of alot of primitives.

^Agreed^

Maca, try spline modelling. Get gmax and draw the outline with the spline tool, then extrude. That's basically how I made my SMG, and as you can see you get a better looking gun that's not all dodgy and rounded. Then you can go back and add detail.

Not to hijack the topic or anything, just to demonstrate...

And another tip, listen to Queens of the Stone Age while modelling. Trust me it helps :D

stop spurting blasphemy sonictag, we all know plane and p-per-p is so much more accurate. In medieval days, you'd be burned at the stake for stuff like that, nowadays, you just get flamed. :P

Hunter, i know you didn't mean to, but you DID hijack the topic, don't do it again. And on another note, hunter, you add in detail first, then take it out if the polycount is too high 8)

So, Mr. Great incredible modeller, what do you think of my first? :D Don't be too harsh...

And another thing maca, how much time would you say you get to model per week?

Well, I think I'm meant to take that as a complement...

So maca, if you want gmax, get it from www.turbosquid.com.
