elevators....?

Is there a way to add an elevator or gravity lift to a map?

That depends.. I know how you can make an elevator, make it like the one in Ivory Tower, always moving. Grav lifts have to do with physics and particles I believe... but not sure. (Point Physics?)

probalby grav lifts need like gravity going up i don't know but maybe it has something to do with reactor or some special material name

Grav lifts are just markers wiht a Damage Effect.

Yeah, I think thats right, a guy whos name I think was link posted a movie I think in the movies forum on this forum although it may have been in the files forum movies forum, but he never said how he did it. Im guessing using markers which release projectiles causing no damage like they did in that snow boarding map.

For a gravity lift, check out a new map called X. There are steam pads on the middle structure that lift you up when you move on top of them. Unfortunately, a traditional lift is not possible for two reasons:

1) You can't get switches to work properly in multiplayer games.
2) Moving scenery doesn't synchronise properly for all players.

Actually... you can. Something like the Ivory Tower one that moves at all times would work. Just make an object scenery and animate it. The lift will have to be designed well, but it works.

One map named Lavafields, I believe...Had a very interesting layout which involved an elevator that only worked when you stepped on top of it. Pretty cool stuff, I can PM the map to whoever wants it.

That only works for the host, I believe, unless it did some scripting...

i rember that map yeao i wa sliek omg when i first went on it i rember saying to my self how did he do it but i did not get the name of the person who made the map

haveing a map with that kind of trigger effects can cause seriouse lagg in multiplayer games

I loved that map. And it worked for everyone.

Constant moving elevators are the issue. Panels and buttons do not work with the Halo engine, due to all that netcode crap that i know nothing about. But constant moving elevators shows for the host. Here's a pictures

The elevator is the Hyphens. When it appears there for the host it is actually there. But other members of the game end up seeing it in a totally different area:

Making a constant moving up/down elevator would be animated scenery. So not, it will not work. Having something like a spinning planet in the sky, though, would be completely fine because the planet has nothing to do with gameplay. Just something in the background.

well what about a animated peice of scenery that does not interject with the gaeplay....like a car moving on a track or a dorr that opens and closes every..like 10 seconds?

If the door that opens and closes every now and then is a place you can walk through. It will show closed when its open, etc.

For the car. The car will look like it is where it is not.

you use jump pads :D
chief cow and sunnysharma are the only dudes who i know who did it in their maps.
it's just a damage effect.
