Vertex animation...

Just as the subject says, it there any way to have vertex animation for a vehicle in halo?

There are these thinga we call bones, they are shapes the control the vertexs in a model. Like in a character they make the limbs move. But if you are trying to make a wheeled vehicle, DON'T make the wheels spin. Thw warthogs wheels in Halo don't spin, they sit there, and a UVW map texture goes around em to make em look like they are. If you tried to make them spin, you're model would look really weird.

I am aware of what bones are :wink: ... And I am not making a vehicle with wheels I just want the surface to deform when It moves. So far I haven't had any luck with bones animation in HALO, could you tell me how to get it to work?

Hmmm... Ok, any one have an idea what the other types of animation file are for? Like JMM, JMT? Or what the JMP format is for???

oh as in a shock effect?

You can try the linkedXform animation Modifier with a small 2x2x2 box and link the vertices to the box. Then when you move the box your linked vertices will move along with it.

Though it really depends on how the RBD setup is in the physics engines.

Ok, Heres what I'm doing... I'm making sort of like a jelly ball thing that chief gets in and flies around in. I want it to ripple when it moves, and maybe squish when it collides... At first I thought a Noise mod for the first, and a FFD spacewarp for the second... But does HALO support it?
