Grass and Dirt in Blood Gulch

Post by Mnementh »

Okay, you know how Bloodgulch his mostly dirt/sand on the road but it also has grassy areas? Well, I have been experimenting with the possible ways to do this and I am stuck. I was wondering if anyone could help. I have a pretty good grasp of the concept of the primary, secondary, and micro detail maps but it would be cool if someone explained how they are mixed to get the final result. I know it is possible to mix dirt and grass on the ground but I dont know how Bg does it. Any suggestions would help a lot

It's just detail maps and alpha maps. The black/white parts of the alpha map in the base texture point to where to add the the primary and secondary detail maps. The micro detail map gets added all-over.
