i whipped this up to show you what a render is... it's pretty crappy i could do much better any day of the week.

a render is like a model or animation.

Rendering is turning a 3D model into a 2D image\ animation, in the process, usually adding effects, better lighting, reflection, ect.

If you own 3ds max you can make renders (Back when I used Gmax I herd some interesting scuttlebutt that someone was making a renderer for Gmax

)
