error in tool: trying to have markers in an animated scenery

Post by gecko753 »

ive got a scenery object that just has a repeating animation.
it had been compiling fine, untill i added markers that were linked to moving parts.
heres what tool spits out:

Code: Select all

F:\HaloCE>tool animations levels\room\scenery\boxes
Couldn't read map file './toolbeta.map'
### boxes.jma
### ERROR couldn't add instance to model marker
### ERROR failed to load model

model animation compression saved 0 bytes
sooo.... i did a quick search that didnt help. so anyone got a suggestion?
anything would be greatly appreciated!

try putting it ingame...the animation saved to 0 bytes blah blah is supposed to be there....if it gets in game and doesn't work, let me know. What exactly was it anyway?

yea i know its normal if its 0 bytes. in game... sapien displays the same thing. meh. but heres what it is:

a conveyer(sp?) belt where the actual belt is part of the bsp, and the moving boxes are all part of 1 scenery object. its animated with about 60 frames. i was trying to have a marker on each box, meaning the marker would move along with the boxes. heres a pic

the idea was to make it so that u could be pushed along by the boxes, but u ended up glitching thru them. so i was gonna add a marker that will push u.

Well, unless your gonne find a way to animate a part of the BSP (the belt) it's gonna look real stupid with moving boxes that don't have anything moving them. To be honest, you don't even need markers, just a frame(s). If you don't mind me asking, what kind of markers are you trying to add?
