Finish a new model/mesh? Got something you're working on? Finish a new map? Here's the place to post it for feedback and whatnot.

weirdness 1

Post by machopenguin001 »

Well, I saw screwing around in max watching the surreal life(lol Mini me got drunk and started moaning really loudly(watch it) I can't remember the actors name though lol) , and I decided to experiment with this model to see if I could get the effect I wanted (I didn't, this is way, WAY off). Well. Upon messing around I got this. And no it will not be a model, it's total polygons account for more than 6 times a 10,000 polygon map(69664 polygons roflmfao).

Yeah, I know Katarn is going to RIP ME APART at my extreme amount of polygons on a single model:

I think I now hold the record for most irresponsible use of polygons on a single model lol. GO ahead LAUGH. Lol

Um whatthe actual size of it in halo cause you could make it into a new plasma/frag nade and when you throw it at a wall the spikes go into the wall and stick.......then explode.but id suggest switch it with plasma cause plasma already has that sticky effect on players.

It is way way way way way too high polygon for that, it would need some major optimization!

speaking oh high poly, one time I downloaded some crappy Sniper Rifle model off of turbosquid and I was really smooth, so I thought geez how many polys is this thing? and I checked and it was 15,000 or something like that, well any way, turns out I read it wrong. It was 150,000 polys!!!

Wow, lol. That is a high polygon model (the snper rifle)lol.

This could never be a grenade, vehicle, or any of that. It couldn't even be a map. It is 69,664 polgygons. Stay tuned for a new model I am working on, well, more like it is done, but I am waiting for a guy to skin the damn thing (he said he would be away for 2 days, but that was like a week and a half ago).

The model is some what undetailed due to some weird errors I get every time I try to boolean or what not.

P.S. can someone maybe write a tutorial for me on how to make a curvy yet accurate model? Like say, a sphere, but able to be controlled, to get a defined shape. I am sure sonictag can probably do this (lol that guy knows EVERYTHING.).

Well, i dont like to brag, but yes I know everything!

What do you mean, getting a more defind curve? Give me an example of what you would want to do with a sphere, I will see what I can do.

Like using lathe modifier to make a sphere? If you want it to be a 360 degree type model that is the same all round, like a Vase that is the same shape all the way round, or a cylinder? With that technique you can make a sphere. There is also lofting ot make defind curves.

For my new game project, they are getting me to model a motherboard with all mesh, no materials in white, hahaha, been working on it for years haha. I just finished cutting out the part where the metal shows through the PCB took like 3 hours of cutting. Anyway. haha.
