TV models

Finish a new model/mesh? Got something you're working on? Finish a new map? Here's the place to post it for feedback and whatnot.

pretty cool but try and lower the poly count. you can get it way down from that.

Dude. No. Do you even know who Katarn and Snaf are? They are some of the few 1337est modelers that have ever set foot in CE. =D

Just use the optimization modifier, it "merges" flat face of triangles into a face with less triangles... whatever.

doesn't optimizer create open edges sometimes? if i were you, i'd just covert it to an editable poly, then use target weld. that's how i get the poly's down on some of my models. i meant to ask before, but what was your method of modeling?

nice model, it looks good, if u use auto-smooth on it and set auto-smooth to 100, it could easily smooth out those rough edges and corners, but you should make shure you do not do that to the area around the screen.

or try the "mesh smooth" modifier
ASPARTAME: in your diet soda and artificial sweeteners. also, it's obviously completely safe. it's not like it will cause tumors or anything. >.>

I use spline and nurbs. If you dont know what nurbs is, its like plane modeling a little, but you make it really low polygon, and when you understand how mesh smooth works, which is what nurbs really is, you can like make cuts, although you model it with them in kinda, so when you mesh smooth it will come out very accurate, as the new verts relieve tension between 2 edges.

I use spline more though, get much better accuracy. I do alot more than what you see in my tutorials though, i might make a tutorial on doing a very simple face with spline...

I watch how all of you lot manually do all of the plane modeling, like multiplying an edge, adding verts, then you look at spline and you can just draw it on. But plane modeling is good for people who dont have a reference picture and go on a random modeling spree ;). (I do that some times)

what i did with that TV, i think was Box modelling i think.

I made a box, to the right size, then i extruded the sides blah blah blah to make a tv shape. Then i took the back and tesselated it to make lotts of faces so i could make that back detail. etc. then i used chamfer and bevel to add some random details. same for the table.

Btw: im very new to modelling. Smoothing groups? ive seen this thing with like 30 numbers on the right bar, is that it. how do i use them? Ive never tried plane modelling, but i did use spline modelling for a gun i made. line, extrude etc.

Basically you select some faces, go to smooth, i would just use auto smooth and change the smoothing ammount to whatever. Or you can try auto smoothing the whole thing. Usually messes up though.

Sweet. Now add a recliner in front of it and replace this with the hog. Use Sparkedit to place this in the base. Disable driving but add the seat. Have RvB playin on the monitor and make the trigger activate the remote to choose the episode. LMAO  Nice Work

Yeah. We need a pro to pull this off. The RvB part was stretchin' it a little but I think the rest could be done. :D

You should take a render of it, put it into a whole scene.
