importing models done on 3ds max 6 and 7

Post by Dustmuffins »

Hey im having a problem with injecting my own models into HMT 3.5 after ive imported and exported them from 3ds max 6 and 7. heres what i do...

I export the model from hmt and save it as pistol.obj

I import the model on 3ds max 6 (or 7)

i dont edit anything, just directally export the model and ssave it as pistolx.obj

when i go to import the model, i can import pistol.obj (the stock file) but i cannot open the file that has been through 3ds max (pistolx.obj)

I get the following error:
___________________________________________________

An unhandled execption has occured in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue, if you click quit, the application will shut down immediately.

Unable to read beyond end of the stream.
________________________________________________

if i click continue, the proggy keeps running and the file dosent import, if i click quit, well... you guessed it!

then there is a details button that if i click says:

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

you didn't have to tell that entire error messege. I've had the same problem. My solution is that Halo hates all modeling programs except Milkshape 3d. This is becuase 3ds max and other programs like that automatically add indices or vertices because it screws up. So whenever you try to import it well never work. Download Milkshape 3d and your life will be happier.

yea, HMTv3 or HMTv3.5 only seem to work with MS3D. I can't use it for crap though, lol

figures, the only program that i screw up is the one that works with hmt... well i did get gmax to work but i have to sit there for about 5 minutes copying and pasting to export the model.

when i dled milkshape, i had my clock ahead and whenever i changed it, it expired...

is there a way to HaXx0r...er...reactivate ms3d?
