BIG DISCOVERY - halo 2 fov

Post by smellylobster »

The field of view is very very small in Halo 2. Shadowkhas just discovered that altering the fov in halo can be done by without using a trainer. It can be done by modifying the MAP file.

So what does this mean? A simple change to a hex value can increase the field of view for halo 2.

If someone has a halo2 mapfile, I would love to take a stab at it. This will work. 8)

Yeah, I noticed it was a LOT smaller. Kind of a reason of my downfall in halo-skill.

GAEM4573R51337 (it's a name) sent me a halo2 mapfile and I searched for the FOV, and found it.
Expect a better Field of View soon. 8)

thirdperson was not a simple value to find. It's a one byte value of either 0 or 1. FOV's unique value of 1.221730471 allowed for easy searching. This won't happen anytime soon. :(

I just wanna confirm that the exact same method works on the Halo 1 Xbox cache files.

yeah I figured it would work for halo1 xbox, but the field of view is already a perfect 90 degrees. I guess if anyone greedy for 100 degrees could use it.

Wait a minute...I thought the FOV on h1xbox wouldn't be 1.221730471 since it's 90 degrees which is 1.57? What value did you look for?

Meh, 100 Degrees won't get you much further than 90. Best to go for 135, at least.

Bawcks = Box. It's a re-wording, under the same pronounciation.

The only thing that sucks about using your old 'Box for modding is that we won't be able to play mods together :(
