For all those people who don't know it does work in a daisy chain with CXE (it works for me). Just do this, in the CXE/NMP installer put the haloconv.xbe.ini in it. Then put the folder with the ppf in it. Then open up halocxe.xbe.ini and put the following in there:

DisplayedName=Halo CXE v1
MapDir=cxe01
BuildVersion=01.10.12.1181
DemosPath=haloconv.xbe

Then in haloconv.xbe.ini put the change the DemosPath to default.xbe. Run the installer. Once all files have been uploaded to the xbox (if it gets an error that it can't upload something, just don't press anything and upload the files in "~output" to your xbox), except "haloconv.xbe". Patch "haloconv.xbe" with Conversion Runner (TSF's Patch) and then copy it to your halo directory. Then copy all the maps to "conv" folder in your Halo directory (the ones in the "~output" of the package you download with the mappack. That's it, you're done! Enjoy!

*EDIT* If some maps don't work for you with this guide that means you forgot to apply Conversion Runner.

BTW Great job guys, I've been looking forward to this for a long time :D .

EDIT

You can do this instead. Some people asked me to post a more n00b friendly guide, so here it is. Click on the "Halo Stuff" folder, then on "Conversion Pack Files", then download the two .rar files there.

briefcase.yahoo.com/vmist@sbcglobal.net

FTP into your xbox and put the 2 xbe's into your Halo directory (the xbe's should be in the "xbes" folder. Then extract "conv.rar" and upload the folder "conv" to your Halo directory on your Xbox. Once that it done, upload all the maps you downloaded for this pack into "conv" in your Halo dir on your xbox. That's it, you're done.

NOTE: Before you upload, open up your "boardingaction.map" in a hex editor and check the build number. Make sure the last four characters are "conv" without the quotation marks. Or else it will not work with my way of installing it.
NOTE: This pack will launch after CXE.

HMPi has the xbe big cahce patch setup to be used. It worked on every test I did too. Hmmm

Has anyone else experienced the xbe not being patched with the 115MB cache patch?

The Betrayal doesn't work for me. Anyone else have this problem or is it just me?

Nope, and truth doesnt work either, but with all the ones that do, I can hardly complain. I just played mombassa with a kid down the street and it made his week. He thinks you guys are prophets LOL.

I have not been able to sit down and try to reproduce the problem with Truth and betrayal not working. I can maybe get to it durring the week some time. Sorry for the problems you guys are having, but I am stiull baffled by it. Try copying the files right out of the download package change the version to end in "conv" then ftp to the conv maps dir that the installer made. Let me know if that works. Once other thing you may try to do is, get a fresh default.xbe and patch it with the TSF big cache patch. Some have said that mine has problems. Good luck and I will keep checking back and try to release a patch as soon as I get it worked out.

but, *cough* worked for me about 50 times durring testing... ;)

Ok, thanks I'll try it. The installer didnt work so maybe that has something to do with it.

*also, is anyone having problems with the mombassa syslink? Keeps saying out of sinc.

Hey can you please share what the problem with your betrayal was? So that the others that had the same problem can learn from it.

Thanks,
AC

Yup, it's just what I though. "boardingaction.map" has the wrong build number on it. If you change the last four characters to"conv" then it will work (or was it just mine that had the screwed up build number?).

just yours I believe. ;) maybe HMPi got hung up on that one or something. Who knows... any number of things.

Glad you got it fixed, but if anyone else notices this one not working, please let me know, and I will release a patch for it.

Okay, I had a feeling I needed to back up Halo onto my box. Unfortunately I only use the savegame exploit 'cause I don't want to mess up Live access. I have a Halo backup ISO from my old box which wasn't hacked, but I don't know of any way to re-open the files on it. I'm too rusty. : P
If anyone has any suggestions, that'd be cool; at any rate, Halo 2 will solve all our problems soon. : )
EDIT: Maybe I'll just get a new pre-modded box. I don't want to take up any more space with this, but if someone could point me to a good source for modded boxes through a PM or something, I would finally be able to make use of this mappack. That would be nice. ; )

2 Patches for the map pack!

Post by angrycamel »

NOTE: You must run the Big Cache support patch after running this one before the conversions pack will work again.

OK I have heard a lot of you mention that you cannot find the pack once its installed. It seems that it is only because I did not include support for the daisy chain game demos links. Sorry bout that...

I do not use that feature myself and I forget that everyone is not just like me :) I perfer to use the evox menu and IGR as a quick jumper from one Pack to the next, but to each his own. It is in that spirit that I have just completed a patch for this Map Pack that will add the conversions pack to the daisy chain list.

It will inject itself in between default.xbe (the original halo) and whatever you have the original xbe linked to (if you installed NMP2 + CXE then it links to halonmp2.xbe).

How to use this patch correctly:
After unpacking the downloaded patch file. Go into the "~input" folder. Inside you will see a list of files just like below.

/maps (folder)
/conv (folder)
default.xbe.ini (config)
haloconv.xbe (config)

If left as is then it will create the following order in the game demos link chain.

Halo Retail -> Halo Conv -> Halo NMP2

If you want to change this then you will have to edit the ini files. It is very simple to do this. Open the ini file for the xbe that you wish to change the game demos link path in. Edit the "DemosPath" value. Below is an example of how to change haloconv.xbe's game demos link to point to CXE instead of NMP2.

Included in this patch the haloconv.xbe.ini file will have this value for DemoPath:
DemosPath=halonmp2.xbe

To point it to CXE instead of NMP2 simple change the DemosPath to this:
DemosPath=halocxe.xbe

I hope that I have explained this well enough that you can apply it to other packs as well. For instance, if you want to have the Conversions Pack sit on the end of the 'list' in your game demos daisy chain, then you can follow the same example as above, by including the ini file and maps folder for that xbe and editing the game demos entry to link to whatever xbe you want from within the same directory.

To make it convenient, I have included ini files and the corrosponding maps folders for each in this package. They are in a seperate folder called resources. Simply drag in the pair (ini and folder to go with it) into the "~input" folder and moddify the game demos link to suit your needs. Remember, if you redo your entire game demos link chain that the one at the end of the chain should always go back to default.xbe.

Hope this helps.

Here are the patch files:
PLEASE CHECK THE RELEASE POST FOR A MORE RECENT PATCH FILE (page 1)

NOTE: You must run the Big Cache support patch after running this one before the conversions pack will work again.

I don't know if it's just mine or not because I re-extracted the package to check and the build number wasn't what it was supposed to be. I think it just wasn't working for me because of the way I installed the pack.
