No it does not have a self extractor.
The archive is seperated into smaller files so that you dont end up corrupting the whole thing if part of the download gets messed up. Its normal practice for files this large. I guess I could have gone with files a bit larger than that so there were not so many, but that is it. It took me a long time to put that one together, so its final.
You must, of course have winrar installed before you can un-rar the set. Then all you have to do is double click on the first one and it handles reading from the whole set as if it were one rar file without you having to do anything. If you were to have one bad file or missing any of the 19 rar files it would fail to extract the package.
If anyone is still confused on how rar files work, check out http://rarlab.com/rar_file.htm

Sorry the other was so slow. The torrent was sucking all the bandwidth. should go faster with the torrent anyway.Sascoo wrote:Yeah, I broke down and got a bittorrent. (My dad is going to kill me) What are you guys getting for a download speed?
What speeds are you guys getting? I am uploading at 30 kb/s. Anybody know how to speed up the torrent? It seems as though my upload is capped at 30 kb/s.
Hey guys, just a heads up on some maps me and Hizlo spent time working on. goto www.halomaps.com to see (pics are there)

Woa new Forum... Hey man 1st I doubt your e-mail can handle a 420 MB file, 2nd you are only getting 4kb/s?quartern8 wrote:my download suck nuts....4kbs, are you kidding? keep your *** windows open! I do not feel like waiting 2 days. I have DSL i usually dl at 160kbs, but yes i know its slower for bit torrent. Any send me the file in an email so i can seed it?
What is everyone else getting?
I have been seeding for multiple hours and I have sent over 1.2 GB (restarted a few times). I'm consitantly uploading at 30 kb/s, I'm plannin on keeping on all night and tommorow.[/i]
Sweet man I got all that stuff to work. Thanks a lot.swese44 wrote:I installed this with HMPi to my Halo directory with NMP2/CXE already there and the game demos link didn't work.
So to keep a million people from asking the question, no it is not compatible with the NMP2/CXE map packs game demos links daisy chain.
EDIT:
This is what I did to make this map pack work. You need to make a new directory for a new copy of halo. Then install the map pack to that new directory, then rename haloconv.xbe to default.xbe. Then you're good!
Great job to angrycamel and everyone who make the maps. A few things I noticed:
There is a small problem with the pine tree colors in Frozen Canyon. I had fixed these for Martijn, but I think his map had to be converted again so they got unfixed. I think it is a small flaw in the bsp conversion process, because the tree color is also a little off in Betrayal. What happens is the last mipmap get skewed to a brownish color. If it bothers you, just extract the image of the pine tree leaves (DXT2/3) and open it in photoshop without mipmaps. Then save it over itself and say generate mipmaps, and reinject it.
The lightmap is a little off in Rampage. There is the red and yellow checkers in places in the map. If you would want to fix this, first extract the lightmap images and save them as DXT1. Then find the tutorial for switching DXT image types and switch the lightmap image metas to DXT1. Then reinject the images you saved to DXT1, and if you still have the red and yellow checkers you'll need to edit them out in photshop, then reinject.
EDIT:
Ok last edit I promise, thanks angry for clearing this up. The UI isn't set up to work with the other map packs, i.e. you can't follow links within the Halo menu to go from NM2 or CXE to CE Conversions.
However, if you're running EvolutionX, you can set up a Halo folder in your main evox menu that will let you jump straight to any of the map packs. Just putt the following code in your evox.ini under "root".
Section "Halo"
{
Item "Halo","f:\games\Halo\default.xbe"
Item "Halo CXE","f:\games\Halo\halocxe.xbe"
Item "Halo NMP 2.0","f:\games\Halo\halonmp2.xbe"
Item "Halo CE Conversions", "f:\games\Halo\haloconv.xbe"
}
Edit: My upload has gone down to about 8...
Edit: Now 0-1...
Sig too big
I know I'm being stupid here, but where do I get the default.xbe? I've always been able to temporarily mod maps by FTPing uncompressed cache files, but I've never been able to move past that because I haven't been able to "get" this part of it. Xbox-scene's tutorials don't help much, either.
Anyone? Please?

lol moron...........just kidding if you havent been told b4 then how could you know
if you insert your halodisc into your xbox's dvd-rom, then if you ftp in to your xbox default.xbe will be at d:\default.xbe HOWEVER most of these new mods like NMP, CXE, and this map pack require you to have halo installed to your hard drive. if you have it installed to your hard drive try looking in f/games/halo/ , e/games/halo , or /f/hddloader/pxsomething
note every xbox game has a default.xbe and if its in hddloader then make sure that there is also a maps folder
good hunting
The installer has never worked well for me.
People who've installed it manually, tell me if I'm doing something wrong.
The installer works until it tries to upload the files, so I presume all the patching is done.
I have a folder called Halo SP-MP. Inside are the patched default.xbe, and the conv directory, with the patched ui.map and the maps that were in the package. When it launches, I get a black screen. Any idea what I did wrong?

Your getting your donations How many times a month are you guys gonna amaze us? Excellent work, all of you.
*Btw, installer didnt work for me either. Got no error screen and it said it was finished, i booted up halo and it was still original halo. Ftp'd in and renamed the new xbe to default.xbe and backed up then deleted the original. Try that.
*Edit, Cant get Betrayal and Truth to load, just sits there saying loading map. Works for split, but not syslink.
