please help ms dashboard

i was trying to install the xbox wireless adapter, and when i put it in, it tried to update my dashboard and an error message came up. now, when i try to open my ms dashboard, it gives me a black screen saying there was a problem. it gives a list saying possibilities like "tried to launch dashboard and failed". i tried putting a backup of the ms dashboard via ftp, and the same thing happend. could someone please help me?
