As much as I agree with you and wish more would be done it's hard to do this when a community has sorta grown on itself into what it is. I wish I could help with changes more here myself. Again I completely agree with you but theres just alot of things that would have to radically change to get people to make the change with it. We have rules in place and we ask all the time for flaming to stop but again I don't know how we should go about making a change that drastic.

My $.02.

Kommie's little registration approval thing was a good idea, but it doesn't seem to be helping. Everyone looks down upon Halomods now. Many good people have left. Heck, I've almost permanently left, because the n00bs here have taken over! D3V0N, I know that there is something you can do. If you don't have banning power, then get someone who does to ban a lot of the people in Halo PC modding general. And for God's sake, BAN Paintball mods from here. Theres only like 7 of them now.

The registration thing only helps for people that are joining, not people that are already members.

Most people don't even look at the announcments about rules, you should seriously re-enstate the rules, send out a pm to every member, saying that if the mods see one more spam post, or flame, they will temporarly ban the person who flamed/spammed.

I could to more here indeed, without power, not so much - but it's ok really. I won't be trusted with being an admin because obviously the admins don't know me too well. I've moderated and administrated countless forums as well as my own, but we just need to get members to listen more then organize it - but organizing it may help too.

You don't get flamed in every topic, that I can see. I rarely ever see flaming here anymore, except for mostly in the files forum. But that's just people overcritizing. And yeah, lots of people have left, to my disappointment...*sigh* I'm one of the few people from back then. :(

Feck... no flaming?

*SUICIDE TIME*

I suspect Equinox will do the same.

No, somewhat kidding. I've retired the OllieBot. There are just too many n00bs.

Think of it this way:

If a n00b asks a n00b question, and you answer without flaming, that's one less bit of n00b to worry about. If a n00b asks a n00b question and you flame, they attempt a comeback (it makes me cry), then post the SAME topic, SAME question, in another forum. So all in all, it's overload. And there are just too manuy n00bs to flame anyway. Before, flaming was taken lightly, but now that the n00bs swarm us like ants we may as well bring them up to date rather than down to hell (we get dragged along with them, y'know).

Moderators should be more strict about the rules.
first flame post a pm with a warning
second offense a suspension for a 5 weeks
third offense a peramnet banning.

and other folks please stop flaming others.
1.if their in a wrong forum just simply put a post(if no one above has)wrong forum and let it be moved.
2.if it is a usless topic please pm a mod or wait until it is deleted becuase flaming does nothing usually spammers post a topic and they only post once in there and they dont reply to flaming so it does nothing.
3.if someone is flaming please tell a mod.
4.there is a section for flamers and stuff so if someone flames someone post a topic about that flamer there.
5.if it is a newbish post please dont flame just post the answer to it and get back on topic.
6.if it is a useles post just ignore it and the mods will probally delete it.

this should apply to both files and forums.

look at this pic this person was looking for the b30 trial map and posted in the wrong section and look what happened?

see look who easy it is to be nice to folks and not flame

We all agree people should follow the basic rules but action needs to be taken. I linked the pics, they may be stretching peoples tables if they got lower rezsz. Also I do see this as important but there may be a better place for it... dunno.

and also, again, what we need is mods who are active, not more mods. Seriously, when was the last time you saw Hivemind, Ang88, WaLKa, The Gaurdian, [lotr]argrn, James, or MASTA doing a good job locking appropriate topics and contributing? literally none of them are here anymore. we have like, what, 4 active mods at any time? great, Im glad you have 7 dead bodies as moderators (no offense to any of them). this is just too much of a job for kpt alone.

Yeh, but that does not remove the fact that there are 3 admins thta are almost never on the nite...kpt is on the most, then Aztec, and gren is rarely on at all...but he has web design to take care of...but the omnly poblem is that we mods do not really have the power to enforce these rules...we can only warn, lock and delete topics...we cannot ban anyone if they get out of hand...and that is up to the admins that are almost never on...

Well, deleting topics and posts is the first step.
And for that, like HunterXI said, we need more active moderators.

I'm online alot, not to sound like I want to become a moderator, I just want to get this forum out of hell..

well, Equinox, warning, locking, and deleting topics is your job. The ability to do that in and of itself is a privlidge, and can speak very loudly. Your job is not to worry about the spammers, just the spam. Focus, here.

Exactly, mods shouldn't be allowed to ban. They should report people that they believe should be banned to admins.

Yep. And the system should be like on the GTA :: CH forums : ya can't flame unless you're in the Official Flamers group, and if you do, you get warned/banned.
