ok thanks alot for ur help man, i appreiciate it. but i got 1 more question, where does this noise need to be comming form for it to be the hdd thats messed up?

correct, it needs to be a whining from the hard drive

however if it not, and it comes from the CD-rom, this could be a different problem

ok well i didnt open up my box yet, but id id put my ear right next to my box and its sounding like the sound is coming form the left side..... by the chip or the drive........ does htis mean is not the hdd?? i dont think it could be the chip since evox loads fine..... idk though i may be wrong

firstly, try to set your clock, i know it sounds dumb, but it works all the time for people. if that fails get a copy of slayers install disk and use the format option, you can format all drives seperatly. if that fails try reformating the whole drive and reinstall it all. if that fails, try a different dvd drive if possible. and very last try a new hdd. these are the troble shooting steps you need to take. one of them will solve the problem for sure
