Ruger Mark II KMK4

Finish a new model/mesh? Got something you're working on? Finish a new map? Here's the place to post it for feedback and whatnot.

Ruger Mark II KMK4

This is my first attempt at really modeling anything, so......here you go.
untextured pic 1
untextured pic 2
I think it turned out okay. A little heavy on polygons for being somewhat simple, about 2300. I used the apparently forbidden Boolean.
Here's the real gun, to see what I was doing:

Feedback is appreciated.
I'm probably going to texture this.

Update:
This is my horrible excuse for a texture! Man, I'm lazy. Oh well, enjoy.

I couldn't quite get the bump mapping to work, I'm gonna go look for a tutorial on google right now...
Google is great. Especially cause I got Gmail. And even better, I get to rub it in everyone's face!

OOOH i think the nicest touch for this gun would be bump maps, 1 for the grip (where the black is), and another for the barrel (where it has writing on it)

ya i think bump maps would be good but not for the black part of it
if that was a real gun that would most likely be plastic and plastic does not reflect light which is pretty much what bump mapping does

well, if you look at the pic of the actual gun, it is reflecting light off of that part

The first gun's texture is actually just the pic I used for reference, photoshopped to fit a little nicer. If you look at the link I gave and the textured model, the resemblence is obvious. The 2nd gun I just photoshopped darker and took out all saturation in the chamber (or whatever, I know next to nothing about guns). The first's handle I made myself, simple but not too good looking either. The second gun's handle came with 3dsmax 6. I just messed around to make it darker and little more grey.

Oh and I got the pics from http://www.ruger-firearms.com

I tried to do this gun before I did the one above. I failed horribly. It's a little too hard to tell the depth of everything. Cool gun though.

:D Thanks everybody for all the feedback.
The texture for the first grip is just this with some bump mapping and darkened a little:

thats because most of the time it screws up your models plus if you just cut and extrude/inward extrude it is just as easy and it makes a cleaner model

*edit*after looking at your models...they really arent that great...yeah...and you even complimented yourself on them...dang

I wouldn't really call it complementing. They came out better than I expected. The texturing on them is god-awful (despite comments) and the modeling is decent (IMO). And I did use extrude for the non-cylindrical parts. I think they're okay. Definitely not great. But personally I think most of the great models here are way over detailed sometimes to the point they look ridiculous. I think a gun with 2 clips and a foot long handle looks cartoonish. Most weapon models I've seen in games are just about as simple as mine, sometimes simpler.
