capturing video is a bitch

ok heres the deal

every video capturing program i tried lags up my game and looks like crap when i go to watch the video

i am wondering if the video capture program sucks or just my RAM sucks,............or if maybe just my processor speed sucks

i have 512 MB of RAM
and my processor speed is 2.0 ghz and is an athlon xp processor

Sounds like you should be fine to me. Do you have any other apps running? Anything eating up memory that you can close? I've noticed when I run Halo and FRAPS that my game is a tad laggy, but not horribly so... just the very occasional pause of a fraction of a second.

i dont know which programs not to close, like if any programs are required to be on. this is on windows xp btw.

Well what I've done on my system is created a "Gaming" account, in which I have almost nothing running in the system tray. Whenever I wanna play a game, I logout of my regular account and into my gaming one and my performance is slightly better. Hope this helps.
