I believe the rule is: Any PC->CE map may not be in outstanding, unless converted by the creator.
I'm glad people like the map
Also, yes JK, Decoy released a custom map and it made outstanding.

Wasn't that back when converting wasn't as simple as a few clicks of the mouse? I don't think any mods that are just converted CE maps should go to the outstanding section. If it isn't good enough to go to the CE outstanding section it isn't good enough for the PC one. And if it is good enough it should just go to the CE outstanding. I don't even count conversions as mods. Using a custom bsp then modding in PC might be different, but I don't see why someone would do that.

But that was also when people were creating quality stuff. Out of the stuff in the download section today, this stands out. I see how you're viewing this, "Converted from CE. Lame" this took me about a week to make with CE. I put tons of effort into this map. You have to view what I did before "a few clicks of the mouse". And yes, I have successfully converted CE maps to PC maps before harbinger. Hell I even wrote a tut on how to CE->PC the correct way. One does not just download CE and simply make a detailed map. Its not that easy, if it was, CE (here) would not be dead. I'm not some noob saying, "give outstanding plox," no. I am a modder with 15 of mods, not counting CE. I have taught myself how to get where I am today. I have experimented and solved my problems while others here are wanting people to help them solve a modder everyday problems. I can go on and on, but I'll stop for now. I hope you see my standpoint.

My personal opinion is to have it here...it's a mod playable on the PC version of Halo, but the effort was put into it in making it on CE. As it was converted to PC, playable on the standard version of Halo, it should be put into the section here. Halo PC modding activity is at a low right now, and still seeing people make maps, and having them playable for PC users, is a good sign.
This isn't "just a conversion" like others have tried to be, where they take someone else's map and just port it over. It's a well done map, it feels fun (admittedly, not playing online, just jumping through by myself)...I believe it stands out from other things. Also, keep in mind, Andrew's done many things like this...I figure there should be some credit given for pushing as hard as he is to keep the PC modding community up.

All I really see are insets, and extrudes. You need a lot more practice before you/anyone can say its great. As of now its just a tad above average.
Keep trying.
You said it yourself, good not "outstanding."JK-47 wrote:I don't see what the 'technique' he used matters. It's a good map. If what he does works for him, then it's irrelevant. It's all personal preference.
In the end it really doesnt matter what is said in this topic becuase there is no one set standard for outstanding mods; any set standard for a mod to be outstanding would be ridiculous. Also a key note is that the manner of conversion *does* matter in on this, or did. For instance when sparkedit mods first came out it was like "omg, hax!" and if i am not mistaken a few of them made it to outstanding.

Is there more to these mods then i am implying with the commet "spark edit mods" ? Yes there is, but if it was done today would it be in outstanding? Probaly not. Do i think they deserve outstanding? For the time frame, yes.
This is one of those discussions that can go on forever, but lets not.
Lets go with the "Oh, good for him" approach and not turn this topic into something it isnt.
