i didnt use a cel shade effect, each one of these skins (there are 117 of them, which is a complete accident, lmao) was done by hand in PS.
i first made each area a smooth colour with no texturing, as close to the original colour as possible. I then added details with the paintbrush, and outlined EVERY SINGLE AREA with varying thinknesses of black lines with the line tool. this took SO F@*&ING LONG. but the result is worth it, even if some are crap and some arent changed yet (all of this will change with v2).
btw, i considered making everything cell shaded (levels, scenery, etc) but it would look crap the way i did it (just blank colours) and any other way wouldnt fit in with the rest of the skins. If you want to make an entrie level like this, feel free to use my character, vehicle and weapon skins, just remember to credit me for the idea and the skins which i spent SO LONG making INDIVIDUALLY, BY HAND.
lol
(thanks for positive feedback, here's hoping that version 2 will be good enough for the 'outstanding mods' section)

I can try to make everything cel-shaded, I'll do sidewinder first, and ill get some feedback. I will need to use your skins though because i am just going to make the levels and every last enemy (if it's not done already) on my own. It may take a while though.Xavier wrote:i didnt use a cel shade effect, each one of these skins (there are 117 of them, which is a complete accident, lmao) was done by hand in PS.

yeah, thats where i got the idea from. My graphics card sucks, and the colours lokoed kinda flat, like a cartoon. i thought that halo would look quite cool cartoon style, so i made these skins, now it doesnt matter that my card cant support bump-mapping or shinyness, i just use these skins!!!I played this mod on SP and I took this awesome pic of the MC. Unfortunately my graphics card sucks. But with this style, you can hardly notice it.
I used PS to fill the different kinds of textures on a skin (metal, armour, undersuit, etc) in a plain colour similar to the original colour. Then i used the line tool to draw black lines around everything, which takes absoltuely AGES. (to give you an idea, for the MC skin, i drew about 600 lines, maybe more...)BaYlOr wrote:what exactly did u do to make it look like that anyway
its quite easy to do, but takes ages and need alot of care to make it look good, which is why version 2 is taking so long.
EDIT: woooooo, it got moved to Outstanding mods!!!! id like to to thank the person/people who brought this about, its nice to have the huge amount of work i put into this pay off. Id also like to point out that i did recieve some help from Logan who made the faces and the spec-ops elite.
Now, I'm going to put a bit extra work into Version 2.

if you have applied the .ppf to bitmaps.map, then all the skins should be there, if youre using the dds files, the master cheif skin is called cel cyborg.dds, but you might want to download the version 2 one, its much better.
If that doesnt help, then id ont understand your problem properly, try turning specular off in the video options perhaps.
