This application provides a base for opening and browsing both Halo 1 and Halo 2 maps (and any future map formats)
It allows easy extension with the use of plugins to add such features as a 'tag extractor' or 'bitmap viewer'
So what makes this different from other editors?
Simple: It's huge plugin support and the browser itself. The browser has many features such as a search function, so you can easily look for a tag by its name.
It also features a Microsoft Windows Explorer interface to browse through maps, to give the user a familiar environment for working with maps.
The user interface plays a large part in helping a user to work. Features of the application are accessible in more than just one way, such as through context menus or toolbars. Drag and drop support allows users to easily work between different parts of the application.
Also, the user interface is fully customizeable in that it can be setup to maximize productivity from the application. Various theming systems allows a user to work in an environment they would prefer to work in.
The plugin support is very advanced in that it is perfectly possbile to directly extend the user interface of HEKPlus itself. This allows for plugin developers to fully allow users to access plugin features in the most appropriate way possible. Such parts of the user interface includes additional context menu items, menu bar items, dockable windows, and directly adding to HEKPlus' main window.
