I similarly have a Intel Core 2 Duo and HEK+ works fine for me.

I seem to be able run programs that necessitate the use of only one program, so it may just be me...
But when you run sapien, press alt+control+delete. Go to task manager. Find the sapien process, right-click > Set affinity. Uncheck either one of the cores. Then try to open it again.
