What Tools should i have to make maps?

yah im learning how to make maps and i need to know what are the easiest tools to use to make maps

i have
-HEK

what else do i need (easiest tools)

The HEK is probably the easiest tool seeing as their are more tutorials on how to use it than any other tool out there.

Most, not all, other tools are a little more advanced and expect you to already have your map/tags made. I would stick with the HEK until your a little more comfortable with map formats and the fundamentals of halo map design.

Anyway, Along with HEK you will need 3DS max and a 2D Art program such as Photoshop or Paintshop Pro.

I know you said that your learning mapping but a really great place to start would be either here or here.

Ok well here is the list because i had some question on what you need and if i forgot one please post the name of the tool

1. HEK (with Kornman's updates)
2. 3ds Max or Gmax
3. String List Editor
4. Hek BSP Model Converter
5. Bitmap Extractor
6. HEKPlus
7. Adobe Photoshop CS2 or Paint Shop Pro 10
8. Chimp for Gmax
9. GBXModel Converter
