[Halo 2] Pointer Tool V4 and a SP->MP tutorial!

Utilities designed primarily for the xbox version of Halo 2.

Which ID does he mean?

Is it the Identifyer of the SBSP? The meta offset?
With the method in the tutorial, the sbsp will still point to non-existant sbsp and ltmp tags. So to fix this, first get the Idents for the SP sbsp and ltmp and the MP sbsp and ident. then endian swap them. To do this go to the converter tab in PT and paste the indent into the 'hex' box. Then select 'make' and hit 'Generate Pointer'

Do this for all 4 of the idents (MP & SP sbsp and ltmp idents) and write them all down.
Then open the sbsp meta in hex workshop and click Edit>Replace
For 'Find' put in the endained SP Ident, and for Replace put in the endianed MP sbsp Ident. Then click 'OK'. Repeat this for the ltmp.

Now open up PT and inject the sbsp meta (assuming that it injects right which I can't get it to do)

Anyways now for my questoins. Do you have any idea why the sbsp injecting screws up the map? Also why does it freeze when I try to fix raw? Finally, what should we do about the ltmp meta?

Ok, here is Pointer Tool 3.5, it seems to fix raw pointer in a snap.

i tried that earlier but it didnt fix the lone ids so i wasnt sure it had even done anything :?

Yeah, like with my incorrect build, you need to sign map, but any app that you try to sign with, even pointer tool, it gives you an error, meaning its corrupt.

I was able to sign the map with TF6's encryptor tool.

It still says failed to load map.

well I dont know if PT 3.5 works for raw pointers as I haven't tried it yet, but even if it does then you would still need to inject sbsp meta and since PT 4 doesn't seem to be working then you can only inject sbsp meta which is smaller than the original, leaving you with a minimal selection.

Also, is it just me, or does insolence freeze at Relinking the ltmp, llightmap bipm, or SBSP? How do I fix this?

It works for me every time I do it. Unless you did something to screw up the map, it should have no problem injecting and shifting the map.

How would you do that? Everytime I look at the dependencies it doesn't show them all or give me an error and than keep loading it, than give the error, reload, error etc.

just do what I did in the tutorial above, extract the conversion tag's meta etc. Except swap all the ltmp references for some random small tag, then swap all the sbsp references for another random small tag. Then after insolence transfers the tag, swap them for the sbsp and ltmp tags in the map you transfered the conversion tag to.

Ok, I can change the ltmp tag fine, but when I try and change the tag class of the sbsp one it gives me an overflow error and it still freezes in insolence.

When ADI freezes when trying to switch the tag class, I use h2x to switch the fake sbsp.
