Creating Water Planes

First, PMI into your map the log scenery, or anything else thats easy to remodel and has a flat surface. If you want I'll upload a 8 vert box andrew_b made for me.

Next, rebuild the shader "river_a" from the map a30 (Halo)

Now, open your map in Eschaton, or HHT, and under the mod2 branch, go to the dependency/reference swapper, and look for the shader the model uses.

Swap it for the river a shader.

Remodel your model to a large size, and place it in sparkedit.

In the dependency/reference swapper of the scenery tag, null out the collision reference, or swap it for the healthpack's.

Skin the river a bitmap to whatever color you want.

You've now made a "river", and placed it in your map.

Yay you posted it! Good job on the tut. Glad you figured something out for the river. :D

I tried this a few days back as you know. Can you post a pic of your results so I can compare it to what I was getting?

Nice tut btw.

Fun Fact: If you need a big huge plane to use try a10 "halo_closeup". Its a completely flat surface, square and about as big as the inside of damnation.

Thats what she said >_>

Nice tut DH, creativity is what we must strive for until the next version of Eschaton, which may unlock more possibilities.

Pepsi, stop being so lazy and get on Xfire, and I'll send you a movie of it. Or I'll upload it somewhere as a .swf, whichever happens first

Would you be able to get a separate collision model using this method?

Elaborate on what you're asking a bit?

You can have a collision for the water, although IDK why you'd want to.

Also, people should try experimenting with other shaders to see what effects they could get.

Use the lightbridge from a30. It has collision. And use the water shader from b30. Works a treat.

Why would you want collision, on water? I'm assuming you want to be able to go through the water.

Ice maybe? Or maybe MC can walk on water.

Or maybe clever collision where you can shoot it and it looks like water, but you can still walk 'through' it.
