Light Volume Editing

Ok so I haven't seen a tut for this yet so I'm going to post one, its fairly simple and u can do it without phenomenas 64 pack, in fact u can do it with the stock plugins. And if you haven't guessed by now, this is for editing the colors of the ghost, shee, plasma pistol and rifle, and wraith mortar bolts. Start by opening the map you want to edit. Scroll down til you see mgs2 (light volume). Choose the one you want to edit, for this, all the ones i will demonstrate will be for the ghost bolts. Now when editing these, you can, but don't have to, change the tint colour exponent and length to 2. This will make it brighter and longer. If you want a longer trail on the bolt, change the length to something like, oh idk 5, try that. Now, it is important that when doing this, you leave the hither and yon for A as they are, messing with them can result in invisible bolts and All white bolts. Below is a bunch of colors I have tested and the different numbers u need to put for the hither and yon of r, g, and b.

Hither and Yon:
R-0.5
B-0.7
G-0
These numbers will result in:

Hither and Yon:
R-0.7
G-0
B-0.5
Will result in:

Hither and Yon:
R-0
G-1
B-0
Will result in:

Hither and Yon:
R-0.8
G-0.3
B-0
Will result in:

Hither and Yon:
R-0
G-0
B-0
Will result in:

Hither and Yon:
R-0
G-0
B-1
Will result in:

Hither and Yon:
R-1
G-0
B-0
Will result in:

Hither and Yon:
R-1
G-1
B-1
Will result in:

These are not the only color combinations you can use, these are only to get you started. Any combinations will work for these numbers but it is important to leave the A hither and Yon as they are unless you know what you are doing. Hither and Yon A-0 will result in invisible bolts, and hither and yon A-1 will result in all white bolts. This tut took a long time to make cause of all the screenies haha and I hope you like it. So after trying these, get out there, and experiment your but off. Oh and in case you didn't read at the top, this will work for plasma pistol, plasma rifle, ghost, banshee, fuel rod, and even wraith mortar. Oh and one more thing, the turret and collision will stay blue when firing because those have to do with bitmaps. Reskin those to match the color u r using.

Have fun!!!!

if you want a very specific color, go into photoshop and click on the color you have selected. a color selection box will open, select the color you want the bolt to be, and to the right there will be R, G, and B. multiply all those numbers by 1/100 and use them for R,G,and B. This works for me.
Nice tutorial by the way.

I think you can make them more\less visible with A(alpha). If you put it at 0 it disappears.

I think he is saying that if you were to put A at, say 0.5, you would have semi-transparent or transparent bolts.
