Speed up your Halo!

This tutorial will teach you how to manage your priorities.

To speed up Halo:

1. After you have started your game, hit ctr + alt + del. Or alt + tab and open your Task Manager [right click on bar conntected to start].

2. Click the processes tab.

3. Find the program (halo.exe) under Image Name. This may be easier to find if you order the list by User Name.

4. Right click the process, choose Set Priority, and choose above normal.

And you're done! Your gameplay should now be much smoother.

What else can I do with task managing/prioritizing?
This is probably one of the best ways to keep your computer going fast, always go to your processes tab to see what's REALLY running on your computer. Many programs are invisible, including viruses and spyware. You shouldn't mess with things under Local Service, Network Service, or System unless you really know what you are doing. However, if you see programs under your Username that look suspicious, go ahead and end them all and see what it does. Make sure any work has been saved first though. As for priorities, raising a priority higher then the rest means, I want to make sure this program is going faster then the others, or lowering it does the opposite. Very nice, when you close out of halo will it reset the priorities so when I close out halo, the computer won't be uber slow?

closing Halo will return everything to normal, every program has a prority, and if you change one to a higher prority, it will not change the others, only itself, so the performance will go right back to normal. However the priority will not save, so you must do this everytime you turn on Halo. I don't like to redo everything when I turn on my computer so I make mine hibernate instead of shut down.

YES! I made pictures and instructions shorter and easier. Hope more people use this, I hate to see lagging servers.

You may have too many processes running. Try ending all other applications/processes under your user, and make sure to start at aboveNormal, and work your way up to Realtime so you can see how much your system can handle.

no his system may have crashed just because he raised the priority. raiseing the priority will not always improve the speeds of you computer as it takes away processing power from other processes needed to make your computer run

COMPLAINT! I tried this, and now every time I try to start up Halo, it gives me an exception. I've tried re-installing, uninstalling then reinstalling, and then installing it on another computer and copying it over. All three worked, except when I joined a server or started one. It's only when the map starts to load up. I noticed my DirectX wasnt working right since, could this have something to do with it?

Okay, It's not directX cuz I just reinstalled it. Help?

What I did was I followed the pictures, and because my computer has different settings than normal, I couldnt see the instructions in red, so I clicked Realtime cuz I thought he was gonna click that in the picture. So am I screwed?
