As I look around the forums, I see many, " HELP I KEEP GETTING EXCEPTIONS! WTF IS GOING ON!? OH MY COMPUTER!!! IT ISNT WORKING!!!! ITS GONNA EXPLODE!!!! WHATS HAPPENING WITH MY COMPUTER!?!?!?!?!?"

1. When a designer posts his map on the internet. He will say. This map will not support. CTF. Or Race, etc.
IF you chose that option from the main menu. Then you are sure to get a exception.

2. Disable All Firewalls!
If you have Windows XP. Go to:
Control Panel --- Windows firewall --- And at the top of the screen. Go to Exceptions. And uncheck Halo.

3. Disable Anti-Virus.
Anti-Viruses usually will block you from connecting and hosting.
If you don't know how to work it, disable it. If you do, make sure Halo is not blocked.

Note: Exceptions are usually caused by something important missing.
Such as the checkpoints for race, Flags for CTF, etc.


That will stop exceptions. If you need any help, please leave me a message.

this should be stickied because EVERYONE HATES EXEPTIONS, and i see posts EVERYWHERE saying "what does exeption mean?" "why do i keep getting exeptions?"

I don't think the windows fireall has anything to do with exceptions.And the exception in the firewall is for programm who are allowed to acces the web.

Yes it does. Windows firewall causes half the problem.

it works i tried the stuff i get exeptions on and i didnt. its sooo awsome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(and so on for 2 years)

Since this is a sticky, im going help more, i know a few more ways to not get exceptions. So, should i?

yes cuz the first way doesn't work for me.

another one is dont use trainers or hacks in games some will cause Exeption. CHEW ON THAT CHEATERS!!!

This is to the Hackers - Trainers and Hacks do cause exceptions, but this is a tutorial on how NOT to get a exception. First, when you have a trainer open, do not enter Halo with it open. Disable or close it.
Open the trainer when you get INTO the game.
Sometimes a trainer doesnt allow you into Halo. Only into lan.
And there is another for when you enter halo. You will get a automatic exception.

I get excptions but I dont have a firewall. Do you think its the trainer I made called Gobi Potato-Shop? It's only an alpha but I think it causes excptions. Well IDK thanks for the help though.
